Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Yes and I feel really stupid for not thinking about incorrect permissions. If only somebody noticed sooner :P I... erm... actually noticed a while ago, a Chinese guy emailed me to say that my de-orangeated ROM worked on his device, and ask if I could make him an update.zip file to restore his device via clockwork recovery... I made him one, and it 'sorta' works on my SF. But as you've deduced, the phone wont work because of the hardware differences... However If anyone wants to try it out.... I changed the default language to English, replaced the RIL lib and repacked it and uploaded it here: REMOVED - MD5 : abed9a35a98b4bc89858605188003596 You *REALLY* will need to wipe your data/factory and cache partitions, so better do a backup first. Enjoy. Edited October 20, 2010 by Sebastian404

Guest tom619 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 just out of interest what are the hardware differences between our sf's and the chinese version?
Guest tmobilepulse Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 just out of interest what are the hardware differences between our sf's and the chinese version? chinese: tft screen, 256 ram SF: OLED screen, 512 ram
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 just out of interest what are the hardware differences between our sf's and the chinese version? Less RAM in the Chinese phone. Different screen resolution also I believe, and different cell frequencies. Just got 886 points on Quandrant. Really happy. Having a hard time getting superuser working though. boot.img is rooted but no applications can get root.
Guest cobhc Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Downloading now, will report back. Ok, have done a full wipe, and installed, rebooting now.... Edit:- Wasn't expecting the Chinese Boot animation and background haha. No network signal, confirmed for me. Also, doesn't have android market. Edited October 19, 2010 by cobhc

Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Did you notice, in the ramdisks's default.prop... # # ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES # ro.secure=0 ro.allow.mock.location=1 ro.debuggable=1 persist.service.adb.enable=1
vs
# # ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES # ro.secure=1 ro.allow.mock.location=0 ro.debuggable=0 persist.service.adb.enable=0 Edited October 19, 2010 by Sebastian404
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 The ramdisk is set to ro.secure=0 ro.allow.mock.location=1 ro.debuggable=1 persist.service.adb.enable=1

That's correct. because the market is not allowed by the chinese carriers.
Guest cobhc Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 You getting network signal flibble? I'm not seeing any APN's.
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 You getting network signal flibble? I'm not seeing any APN's. No. The cell radio isn't working.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 The ramdisk is set to a total inversion of the stock's settings.....
Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 a total inversion of the stock's settings..... Yes. The Chinese ROM is a leaked debug build so it'll be rooted by default. But somehow I can't get any root app to work and superuser just won't load.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Yes. The Chinese ROM is a leaked debug build It is?... hmm., I wish someone had told me that before I got that Chinese guy to install my ROM, I could of got a dump of a 'retail' version.
Guest cobhc Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) a total inversion of the stock's settings..... I'm confused here. I've installed Sebastian's ROM, only thing I've done is turn on wireless, and install Quadrant, and I'm only getting 423, any ideas? And I did a complete wipe beforehand also. Guest Simon O Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 423 is normal for the phone. Normal for Eclair. Froyo should be higher
Guest blackmath Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Normal for Eclair. Froyo should be higher He/She has Eclair though. edit: or is sebastian's ROM something else? Edited October 19, 2010 by blackmath
