Yes and I feel really stupid for not thinking about incorrect permissions. If only somebody noticed sooner :P

I... erm... actually noticed a while ago, a Chinese guy emailed me to say that my de-orangeated ROM worked on his device, and ask if I could make him an update.zip file to restore his device via clockwork recovery... I made him one, and it 'sorta' works on my SF. But as you've deduced, the phone wont work because of the hardware differences...

However If anyone wants to try it out.... I changed the default language to English, replaced the RIL lib and repacked it and uploaded it here:

REMOVED - MD5 : abed9a35a98b4bc89858605188003596

You *REALLY* will need to wipe your data/factory and cache partitions, so better do a backup first.

Enjoy.

Not for me, but I'm in a 3rd different country, in a patchy reception area... your mileage may vary

Less RAM in the Chinese phone. Different screen resolution also I believe, and different cell frequencies.

Just got 886 points on Quandrant. Really happy.

Having a hard time getting superuser working though. boot.img is rooted but no applications can get root.

Ok, have done a full wipe, and installed, rebooting now....

Edit:- Wasn't expecting the Chinese Boot animation and background haha.

No network signal, confirmed for me. Also, doesn't have android market.

The resolution should be the same.

Did you notice, in the ramdisks's default.prop...

#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=0
ro.allow.mock.location=1
ro.debuggable=1
persist.service.adb.enable=1
vs
#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=1
ro.allow.mock.location=0
ro.debuggable=0
persist.service.adb.enable=0

That's correct. because the market is not allowed by the chinese carriers.

a total inversion of the stock's settings.....

Yes. The Chinese ROM is a leaked debug build so it'll be rooted by default. But somehow I can't get any root app to work and superuser just won't load.

I'm confused here. I've installed Sebastian's ROM, only thing I've done is turn on wireless, and install Quadrant, and I'm only getting 423, any ideas?

And I did a complete wipe beforehand also.

423 is normal for the phone.
