Guest convolution Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 You don't need to root on the pre-OTA if you are planning on going to update anyways. I just went through these step but skipped the rage root for pre-OTA and it worked fine. Whatever Visionary messed up is resolved once you reflash the stock ROM onto the phone. LOL K I renamed the .apk.zip to .apk works fine perm rooted mah phone installed Virtuous Custom Rom everything is dandy!
Guest marley097 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) used r13 on my tmobile G2, temp root worked fine, downloaded rom manager, flashed clockwork. everything was great. tried perm root a few hours later. pretty much rebooted right away, now phone stuck on green HTC boot screen.... cant connecct to PC drivers fail to install...what the heck do i do?????? please help. Guest ayalah1986 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Got it working!!! I had the weird issue where I had S-Off but no root. Also visionary r12 and r13 would just try over and over again but never finish. Here is what I did... download the system back to pre OTA software using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831398 The link for the XVI editor is (this is needed in the step above): http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/free...xvi32/xvi32.htm and use rage to perm-root and s-off: (with wpthis-pre-OTA.ko) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228 Then apply OTA. and re-do rage to perm-root and s-off again: (with wpthis-OTA.ko) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228 I just tested it, it works beautifully. It takes about 1 hour total! I have root, S-OFF and OTA now. This is a looong procedure!! I still have another G2 and I will be eagerly waiting for Paul to give us a new version of his one click magic!! Sounds good just one problem..... I can't even temp root....

Guest RonnieFoxxx Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Tried using r11 through r14. TempRoot used to work before, now not so much. I get an endless loop of "rooting device, please wait" and sometimes the blank screen with the notification bar. Tried rebooting even wiping, nothing works. Looked into logcat logs and noticed "W/VISIONary(3324): Failure in MergeAssets" followed by a few repeating "W/VISIONary(3324): Failure in CopyAsset". Please HALP

Guest Germanguy Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 "Set system r/w after root - this allows you to leave the /system partition read/write after root" I don't fully understand this option. What is the purpose/benefit of this option? Also, do I need to temproot before attempting permroot?
Guest MT4G_Slave Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Hi Paul, can you add 1 click permroot for MyTouch 4G as well? Thank you.

Guest Rafi_l Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 First a big thank you for all your hard work. Going from my rooted G1 to G2 was a big step....anyways I downloaded r14 and installed fine. I clicked temp root now and it takes me to the next screen that says "rooting device please wait" and nothing happens. I havent read anywhere that this process should take very long but after waiting 5 - 10 mintues I back out of the visionary app. I repeated this whole process several times with same results. Doesnt seem to work for me and I see plenty of threads here and on XDA this was supposed to be a no brainer....Anyways, USB debugging is enabled and I am running a stock G2. What else should I be doing or try? please avise.
Guest Dudemaaan Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Below is all solved..... I'm having an issue with installing the new version 14. I am able to install an old version. (visionary.apk vs visionaryplus14.apk) I get a "there is a problem parsing the package" error. I have unknown sources checked, and I un-installed the old version first.... Anyone have ideas? EDIT: Got it: Followed the suggestion on pg 7 or 8. removed from sd card, installed to PC then moved it to the sd card via usb. Click and it installed. This is solved also, I uninstalled Superuser, then went to app store and reinstalled it. Seems to be working now... will be sure to add a 4th edit if I have more issues lol.. EDIT 2 Ok after getting it installed, I did temp root, worked just fine from what I can tell, but if I click on superuser, or use an app that requires SU privileges i get a "Sorry! the application Superuser (process com.noshufou.android.su) has stopped expectantly. Please try again. " I tried rebooting same issue... *shrug* EDIT 3: Solved by uninstalled superuser that came with visionary and reinstalled from app store. Will be sure to add a 4th edit if i have any more issues... lol Edited December 3, 2010 by Dudemaaan
Guest kkiran Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Any luck with FRG83D on Nexus One anyone?
Guest katx5h Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Hi Paul, Thanks for the VISIONary app (R14) I installed it to my MT4G and after several tries got a temp root. I had at the time su rights with terminal. I then did a perminant root and when I did a hboot I get: GLACIER PVT ENG S-OFF which is what I want but now I no longer have superuser rights and VISIONary hangs if I run it again. (or at least after 20 min does not have a root) I also do not have a super user app. And Titanium backup will not run. All I am trying to do is get rid of the bloat ware that T-mobile puts on the phone, and maybe have option to later put on a custom ROM. I'm good with Ubuntu and Linux but this thing has got me stumped. Any advice?

Guest SQ3.0dotJP Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) All i get is the phone with the red triangle whenever i try to install a rom via clockwork. is that a problem with the one click root or clockwork? i can install and run root only apps but i cant install a rom to save my life :). ive tried installing clockworkmod 2x, and fixing permissions multiple times too. i want to go faster :), any suggestions. im a noob on script, but im comfortable with a detailed step by step guide(rooted my original desire) nevermind, this permroot guide worked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834427 Edited December 16, 2010 by SQ3.0dotJP
