Can I ask what the difference between the eariler zips you did and the one for Southpaw was?

The differences is just the framework-res.apk from a different ROM.

I dont get that though, how come that frameworks but other dont for instance I cant do any of the other things such as themes?

or would I have to find the theme framework-res.apk I want and then modify it to my framework-res.apk? ie have to learn how it works to do it

hopefully you get what I mean

What I mean is my wife would love a Pink theme, but I cant get any themes to work, they just lock the phone up and I have to do a restore (using clockwork)

Is there a way to get a pink theme working by doing something with the framework-res.apk in this post

as that framework is perfect, I can modify the animations by pushing in my own to the framework, and it has the new battery Icon that we both love so much.

I've sorted it by estracting my framework-res.apk out of my phone, opening the framework-res.apk of the pink theme one and taking bits out of the pink theme and overwriting the files in my framework-res.apk file

Trial and error as I know very little about android, I've only had one a week so its all new to me

I had to change 2 pictures for the background behind the battery icon to make it show, it came with a black background which want good, couldnt see the clock or battery.

Took a while to find the files I needed to change and I may have only needed to change one, I dont know but I did both to try.

I now need to find out what opens the .xml files so I can see whats inside them

Thanks by the way, without your help by posting the modified framework for Southpaw I'd never have got this done.

The wife is going to be very happy now, she has her custom boot screen animation (although its only 4 pictures showing for a few seconds each) and her custom battery and now her pink theme all in one :)

by the way have you any idea what file or where the 2nd animation or maybe its a splash screen is? I've modified my splash screen and it now has a picture of me in there with a warning that if anyone else has this phone its stolen to hand into the police or call my phone number with a reward for return of the phone.

It shows perfectly for a few seconds, but then I get the green android robot picture for another few seconds before the boot animation starts

I cant find this 2nd droid picture referenced anywhere, any ideas?

Oh I uploaded my framework file if you want to look at it, its on my server, the only thing is it downloads as a .zip file for some reason even though its a .apk file

@idroid, need some help here, am working on GalaxyS for 2.2 and its working fine, except the circle battery icon, in Froyo 2.2 Framework-res.apk i have

/system/ framework/ framework-res.apk/ drawable-hdpi/

and from GalaxyS circle battery frame work i have same folder and an additional folder

/system/ framework/ framework-res.apk/ drawable-hdpi -v4 /

all the circle icons are in their, no battery icons in standard drawable-hdpi, now when i copy these to Froyo framework in / drawable-hdpi/ it doesnt work, infact the battery stat is stuck @ 100% and 30% while charging and its not animated

how to solve it, ?

Many thanks to the OP - I've now updated mine to have the nice new coloured battery indicator and new bootscreen.

It's easy enough to just open your own framework up in zip and drag and drop image files in.

Sorry for asking again.. but how exactly can you use these bootscreens with Seb's ROM ? I've been trying to get this to work for the past hour and it's driving me a bit crazy to be honest....

What I did:

Extract Seb's Rom

Pull the images from the files in this startpost (framework-res.apk/assets/images)

Open my framework-res.apk with 7zip (without extracting framework-res.apk)

Put the files in there

Re-sign zip

Push to /sdcard

Update via Clockwork Recovery

But.. it's not working ! It refuses even to flash the ROM...

Please help me

I am an ultra ultra noob and have just got r4 running and am learning adb as we speak but in the meantime someone please tell me how i can just use the images from the .zip to replace the ones in my current framework-res.apk.

Im on ubuntu 10.04.1 and i installed pz7ip (though its difficult to use in terminal).

I don't know if seb removed code to reference the 24 PNGs. This is why it probably doesn't work. This works for MoDaco ROM.

Ok. I switched to MoDaCo ROM R4 and it's working now. Looks awesome !

I read your first post yes and I also read it was only working properly at MoDaCo ROMS, but I also read trough the topic, reading that some people had successfully got them to work with Seb's ROM.

The standard boot image is because the Orange boot logo is removed and so is the code to reference the boot images. No-one has made a standard boot screen so that the phone can be flashed.

Ive got a program running just to see the battery indicator in percenteges, but with this i wouldnt have to use it anymore!!

If it is okay with you then i would like 1 singel battery indicator with 3 bootscreens (3 different zip files ofc)

or if you only does one per person then i would like Bootscreen010
