custom roms in android emulator

Hi all,

i'm trying to get the custom roms working in the android emulator. what i've done so far is downloading a custom rom, i.e. nexus one and created a system.img and data.img file. then i placed them in the avd-directory and started the emulator. but the system does not start, i only see the the text "android" and a blinking cursor.

what am i doing wrong?

I'm sure this will have been answered by now, but it's simply a question of waiting - several mins. The android text and cursor will eventually change to a slicker android logo before (after some more time has elapsed) the screen builds to present you with the skin of the device you're emulating. It can be sloooooow!
