Phone won't boot no matter which ROM I'm using.

I got a brand new SF today (the third one I've had the pleasure of playing with). Like the first two, I unlocked this phone, then rooted and installed R3. Unlike the first two, this one seems to have a problem. It won't boot anymore. It gets to the Modaco image, then just cycles through the boot animation over and over until I pull the battery. Not a problem, I thought - I'll reflash the ROM! Still didn't solve it. Redownloaded the ROM - nope. Grabbed the stock ROM and flashed the phone again - still no joy, except now it's cycling the orange boot animation over and over. I've reset, cleared the cache....nothing works. I can get into clockwork recovery fine, but other than that, I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Try booting without your sd card inserted. I had a similar issue which sorted it.

Tried that - didn't fix it. However, I just tried a different SD card and flashed R3 using it (Kingston MicroSD instead of the crappy MicroSD that came with the phone) and now it works! So that was the issue - the crappy microsd card.

Also a 10 minute period without any battery can help.

Edit: you fixed it as I was typing. Ill add it to my list of things to try when it next goes wrong : ta.

I think the microsd card that comes with the phone can be of poor quality. Flashing with a different SD card sorted it, so I think the original SD card probably became corrupted when I moved data onto it (i.e. roms), which probably caused issues when flashing. All sorted now, though...the phone's working perfectly now that pos sd card is no longer in it!

Thanks. :P

I've not seen/tried it with the SF yet, but I've crashed a number of Android devices with badly formatted SD cards.... Its always a good idea to try boot without it
