Totally off topic and probably a n00by question but can someone tell me how to add the "connection status bar" that you can see in the 1st photo? V useful for turning wifi on/off quickly. My launcher pro doesnt have it (although standard launch does) but I havent got a clue how to add it?

Thank you so much for such a straight forward set of instructions! I was trying to install clockworkmod for 2 hours using other methods, yours....2 minutes!

Thanks.

A word of advice: if you get "out of memory" errors at Step 7, as I did, you need to close all running apps. I used Advanced Task Killer to kill absolutely everything, and then flash_image worked fine.

This thread from xda-developers.com saved my bacon.

hello, please help me, I don't get it to work.

Did every step but when I turn off the phone to restart it in clockwork mode by pressing the volume down and the power key it just shows up a picture "FTM". The only way to get rid of that is to put the battery out.

I've tried several times without any success.. Please help me.

So I decided to go for this ROM. Had a few hart-stopping moments, but it seems fine. I had 2 errors come up (or force closes), one was something to do with Latin Keyboard, and the other was System (which I decided to click 'Wait' on). Everything seems ok.

What is weird though is that all my homescreens are still as they were complete with widgets (although it said 'problem loading widget', I just took them off and put them back on, and it's fine), and complete with Apps. When I've downloaded a ROM before, it wiped the whole thing.

Is all this normal?

Cheers.

Thanks Jutley, and also to the writer of the ROM.

Feedback about the process:

Firstly, I don't know if my phone could be called "fresh out of the box", I don't know how much of a difference that makes... I had only unlocked it & changed APNs to another network, added contacts, and downloaded a few apps - happily, all those remained after this process.

Steps... problems/successes

Firstly, for those who don't know (I wasn't sure)... when copying folders onto the SD card root, connect via USB and in Explorer it is the parent folder (f-Drive in my case) of 'Android' and 'DCIM' etc. So in my case, I saved the various new files needed for the installation to a temporary new folder on the pc and then dragged them as needed straight onto the ''F Drive", not into 'Android' or any of the other child folders.

1 & 2) - to get Androot onto the phone I wasn't able to use Root Explorer it was just "force close", but there was already an app on the phone called 'filer' which did the job of getting the new files from the SD card onto the phone - but I was only able to do this when the usb was unmounted, otherwise I didn't get to folders and files of the SD card.

3) Better terminal installed fine unlike Root Explorer.

Steps 4 & 5 also ok

6) On first reading the thread, I had no idea what "Fire up better terminal" would entail, but it simply meant opening the Better Terminal app on the phone. With hindsight it's obvious, but on first reading, before starting the process, I didn't know what this would be.

7) ok

8) I don't know what the clockwork mod is: nevertheless Step 8 worked just fine but once at the recovery menu there is no instruction what to do next, so I selected the option to reboot, which I presume was right because after step 9 my phone was de-oranged successfully.

9) Fine except I didn't check that the MD5 code matched with the stated MD5 of the ROM I installed because as I didn't know how to do it.

10) r5 installed - my phone looks and feels better.

11) I'm not sure whether to get rid of Androot and the other apps needed for this from the phone, and not sure whether to delete the files copied onto the SD card?

Thanks to Jutley, the forum. and those involved with the ROM.

are you holding the power button aswell as the volume down button together until you see recovery try a batterty pull and try again. remeber volume down button with power button together until recovery appears.

Hi jutley...

yep...holding both but don't get to see a recovery screen..It goes straight to the FTM splash...Hope somebody who had this issue and got round it can advise..

Cheers..

I tried it again, also by putting out the battery before that progress but just the same FTM screen as before. This is really frustrating since the regular method does not work for me as well
