Personally I prefer TouchPal just for its easy capital and symbol entry...hell I joined the ad-free modaco just get a froyo rom with it.

Predictive text just isn't good enough, besides it takes longer to pick the predicted word than it does just to type it!

I haven't used the other alternatives out there yet, having only just got my SF, which is my first Android smart phone, but uh...

the standard Android kb looks good. Touchpal is not as pretty but very functional especially in the last mode who's name as escapes me (Cool something) with a pretty decent predictive typing.

Only thing new to report is that Smart Keyboard after a few weeks use is becoming better at prediction as it learns your most frequently used words.

Its still behind Swiftkey, but now predicts noticeably better than htc_im or touchpal. I find its layout more user friendly than Swiftkey when needing to enter non alphabetic characters or when the predicted word is not correct.

Touchpal 12-key setting with dictionary in portrait mode is great for one hand typing. Works exactly like T9 in the old days with physical keys.

Stock is best for me. The swype-style ones are inaccurate for short words and are laggy. It's easier to just go landscape and use 2 thumbs.

I've got slightly podgy fingers so swype is a god send for me, stick in landscape and i can bash out a text in seconds...full of typos mind you but i'm still getting used to it.
