Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Market down? Take the time out to watch the KeyNote presentations and get a serious boner about the future of Android!
Guest UMAIR239 Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Ok so i went to recovery boot menu and did a factory restore, This wiped my google account details, I then re-setup my account in the market and downloaded the battery app. It still doesn't work and i get a download unsuccessful message. Guest h9k Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Hey I am having the same problem, I cannot download anything from the market and cannot install anything from that I download from the internet, its Crazy, I have the Dell Streak T-Mobile AWS version, so I cannot take it back to Google since it doesn't have the warranty on it, Don't know what to do, cannot restore because it says Already Up to date and aborts Installation :P Stuck here, Help Please!!!! I have read that my issue is with the fact that the internal SD card can't be mounted. This stop you from doing and os update and also stop you from installing any apps. There are a few guides on how to open up your streak and get to the SD card and some cleaning and wiggling is shown to fix this. I have dropped mine from coffee tables etc but not caused any visible damage, i think this may have kncked the internal SD a bit. Luckily mine is with O2 and under warranty so it is now with them and hopefully they will sort or replace. if you install the clockworkmod and it gives you a whole load of error messages about not mounting the sd then this might be your issue as well. In the tear down (search for ixfixit dell streak teardown) it is only a few steps in to get access to the internal SD. They don't mention it in the teardown but you can see the SD card in the pics to the right and up a bit from the user accessible SD card. (there are no marking on the internal card) Hope that helps
Guest rebski Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Certainly it seems that there is something else at work here, not just Google updating Market or whatever. I also have a SmartQ7 (edit. another Android tablet - robo censor at work here) running Froyo and I have just tried to download from the Market and that worked perfectly. Like several others Market had been working fine on my Streak Froyo v1 and then stopped downloading. I would baulk at tearing the case down to get to the internal SD but if it has to be done then so be it. I would prefer to replace it with a 32Gb item while I am at it but I don’t think we are there just yet. Though it might be of interest to developers to report back the contents of the internal SD. Guest rebski Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Phew! I managed to deal with this without prying the case open. I expected to be a candidate for that as I had dropped my Streak on to a hardwood floor a week or two ago. I began with those files that were stuck on Downloading:- Select Cancel Downloading Error Message: ‘The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.’ Select: Force Close Sometimes this triggers a reboot sometimes not. Either way it becomes an endless loop so give up. Go To: Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All/Market/Clear Data Then: Start Market Accept T&C Downloads Update (Where Applicable) I have a problem with aCircuit Board Live Wallpaper being reported as ‘not found’ but I can deal with that later. Not the end of the world. Edit: not sure what is up with that particular app, I have re-purchased and get the same issue. Maybe it will sort itself. I have two items of it now in Market, one found and one not but they both show up as Live Wallaper. All other new downloads are working fine. Edited October 27, 2010 by rebski
Guest sukicat Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Is the market down again? having great trouble downloading !
Guest fards Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) PayPal has been enabled today, I presume it's taking a hammering... I've just downloaded the fast web installer upgrade that took 6 attempts, it came eventually. Pointless though as the new version, supposed to weirdo with custom roms, says phone model unsupported.... Edited October 27, 2010 by fards
Guest payneardo Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Seems hit and miss again, had 6 updates 2 ok, 2 paused and 2 unsuccessful. Spoke to some one else today with another android phone and they was complaining they cant update apps as it says download unsuccessful. Just tried again and it's updated the other 2 with 1 stuck again. Keep trying and hopefully it will be ok :D And pay pal enabled, that's good news thanks for the update fards :P Just struggling with a retro camera update now... Edited October 27, 2010 by payneardo
Guest rebski Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Using my 'fix' above I downloaded and installed about 5 apps. After a short break I tried to pay for and download another and it went awry and the ‘fix’ no longer solved the issue. After another break I have downloaded and installed another app but it is all very sluggish and not at all confidence inducing so I shall confine myself to free apps only. The system is currently too unreliable for paid apps, with free it doesn’t matter.

Guest rebski Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 which ties in with the theory that its down to them enabling paypal, and the backbone payment system struggling You could well be right. Just for clarification, the only payment option for me was Google CheckOut. However the formal announcement that PayPal is coming to Market is a week away http://www.intomobile.com/2010/10/27/paypa...android-market/ It surprises me that the ramifications of this upcoming facility should have been felt for the past week and are still ongoing. Not that I understand the nuts and bolts of this but I also use AndAppStore which accepts PayPal and no big deal there. http://andappstore.com/AndroidApplications/

Guest rebski Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 paypal announced it was going live today (then pulled it quickly off the blog) I hadn't realised that, thanks. I assumed that it was the announcement of the upcoming facility today that was pulled not that the service was going live. That is a big difference so clearly they are having serious issues. Speaking of AndAppStore, I thought I would download what I want from there instead. It too is slow and sluggish so I have given up on that also. It looks like everything to do with Android Apps is jammed up.
Guest pompeyboyz Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Also does not work! Suck! Suffering as well......wish I read this before doing 2 resets :)
