Guest strvmarv Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 I tried swiftkey and ultra which I was able to get working on my streak by removing the existing android keyboard apk, but for the life of me I can't get swype or the droidx keyboards out there working. All are "expired" or fc on launch, even with original android keyboard apk removed and rebooted. Swiftkey and Ultra definitely seem more useful in a portrait mode view, which doesn't lead to usefulness in the streak with it's landscape design and defaults. Still hoping someone comes up with a keyboard that's more functional than the stock 2.1 or swype finally freaking releases a public product!!
Guest jeffrey2000 Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Can you provide me with a screenshot of what you are looking for, it is very easy to make a APK for the keyboard by modifying the Sample SoftKeyboard that the Android SDK has, I don't think I am good enough in Java right now to implement the Arrow keys but the rest is plain easy and I can provide you with some help atleast :) Cool, here it is ! So Rahulkadukar did u make something similar as the 1.6 keyboard already? or any progress about it? A plain qwerty with num keys on the right side seems great, directional keys can come later (maybe in the place of the smiley key)... I've ordered the Streak a few days ago, I just don't like the Windows Phone 7 gui so decided to try android for 2 yrs now but the 1.6 keyboard seems great comparing to other mobiles I had before so gotta know someone ported this keyboard before upgrading this to 2.1 or 2.2. Guest rahulkadukar Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Wow can't wait for this to come out ! good job man Sorry forgot to post the APK, give me 2 hours, will post APK in 2 hours and as for the symbol thing please tell me what symbols you want and will make a new keyboard with the Symbols that you guys want. Will also post source code together with how to mod and you can make your own keyboards however way you like it :)
