Guest Simonsimon1234 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Slightly offtopic question: Is it possible to delete stuff I don't want (like Sims 3 which doesn't work anyway and some other apps that apparently came with 2.1)? Since they're loaded into the phone's memory I can't delete them normally... Oh by the way, I put everything back to the way it was before I installed apps2sd. Now it's working fine again :)

Guest vinokirk Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) What are the benefits of each ROM? I will be getting two GT540's for my sister-in-laws. They will be from Tesco, so presumably locked to Tesco Mobile. They will want to put their O2 sim card in it, but I think Tesco Mobile use O2s network anyway so their existing sim cards should work just fine. Where did all these 2.1 ROMs come from? Why can't we just do OTA updates if all there companies have released their Eclair ROMs? EDIT: eppouk tells us that we can update the proper way: http://www.lgblog.co.uk/2010/11/upgrade-yo...to-android-2-1/ Edited December 24, 2010 by vinokirk

So its more fun to do it this way.

Guest AnDroiDMobSFreaK Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 [*]If the phone still dont work, take your phone to local LG Waranty service or your Operator which sold you the phone. Tell them that after you turned the phone off, it dosnt seem to turn back on again. And also make some angry face, something like this: >:[ so the girls that work there would be scared and respect you.

I've read the tutorial & noticed that usb port at the back of the pc is strongly recommended to be used but if im using a laptop, can i use any usb ports then? 2. I'm from the Philippines, can I still update the my phone?.. if it's possible then what would be the best ROM for me? Thanks in advance.. :(
Guest lgsmfs2 Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 aah.. perfect ;) now let me try the other rom's :( i <3 gt540 East or West India is the best ;) ... tried the other 2.1 ROM's and I feel the indian version v20c feels much faster & has fewer default apps ;)

Guest SILV3R Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 Hi there. I'm having a little trouble with my Optimus, I have upgraded to 2.1 (Romanian) and rooted (with 1 click) and installed apps2sd (with the last option apps and cache). I have a 4GB microsd installed in the phone gaved 700 MB for apps2sd. The issue that I have is that the phone freezes every time I use it for anything even if it is to check the weather (stays frozen for abou 30s every time). If I restart the phone it gives me an error that android.phone has stopped. Any advice? Thanks in advance, and a happy new year!!!

Guest lnsatiable Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Well.. That was weird. I did the update and everythngi and no errors came through. The main menu was changed and everything so I thought I had installed 2.1 Turns out when I go to look at firmware it still says 1.6... Should I reflash it then?

Flash a v20 ROM instead.
Guest ztech Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Thanks very much. My GT540 bricked when I was doing the update to Android OS via LG's tool. Got stuck at 4% and then phone kept getting stuck at LG screen. Something I would like to add is that make sure the phone is plugged in using the USB cable and then switch it ON using the Voume down + Power combo
