On my galaxy spica the sd card is mounted at /system/sd. You can check if you have a folder named sd in your system partition, and if it is infact empty. And from SamH's screenshot I see, that the mount point is the same.

You can mount it with the following command (you have to do this just once):

mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd

Also, you can see the desired effect if you just write mount in the terminal emulator.

Thanks soo much ! That did the trick ! 'a2sd check' reports no errors and my A2SD Storage shows up in Quick System Info.. w00t !

But here's a nooby question.. what do I do now ? How do I move the apps to my SD card ? (I know, this sounds really noobisch)

The apps transfer to the sd card automatically, anything you install is going to be on the sd card because /data/app is a symlink to /system/sd/app. You can check how much space is used on the card with Quick System Info.

Thanks again for the reply..

Aha, that makes sense... So I don't need to do anything to transfer my current installed apps to the SD card ?

Also, after I mounted the SD card, I restarted my phone. Could that have harmed the transfer/moving process ? I used the quickboot widget btw...

I don't think if you have to do anything. I'm used to enabling a2sd before i install any apps, but if they work, then you shouldn't worry at all.

I don't think it would have harmed anything.

Alright, last but not least: My phone had 25MB of free internal memory before a2sd and now has 101MB free internal memory. I also see the free space of my a2sd partition has decreased, so it seems to be working.

But the Total internal storage is 208MB (according to Quick System Info). I now only have 101MB free. Why doesn't a2sd move over the rest of the files to the SD ? Is that the ROM itself or something ?

That's probably because dalvik-cache is still on the internal memory, and also /data/data is still there, which stores some additional info about applications and configuration from each application. Don't worry, 101mb is more than enough

On my spica i have 147 MB of internal storage, but only 45MB free, while having a whole bunch of apps installed.

[Also, can't wait till i get my Blade...]

Alright, thanks for the info

Cool, so I just need to leave it that way ? Thanks.

You'll see that internal memory doesn't get filled dramatically, so i think this is okay.

I guess I cheered to early. Now my phone is stuck in a bootloop too, restoring nandbackup

Have you tried rebooting the phone without the sd card and then adding the card?

Too late... I didn't. I just did a NANDRestore and am currently in the process of reapplying a2sd... However, thanks for the tip, I will do so in the future if I have this problem again

thanks buneech that seems to work. Will I have to run the command each time I reboot?

No. I didn't have to... but mine is broken now. I cannot get A2SD back to work.

Here's what happened:

Everything was working well, A2SD was working and I was downloading an app from the market, but the market kept forceclosing, so I rebooted my phone

My phone got stuck in a boot loop

I got into Clockwork and did a NANDRestore

I re-applied the a2sd zip and rebooted.

Got into the terminal and mounted it.

Quick System Info sees my A2SD partition but the internal memory is still full (25MB free).

I reboot my phone again, Quick System Info doesn't see my A2SD parition anymore...

D'oh !!

It should stick. But please check if you'll have the same problems as Freekers while rebooting the phone.

Just rebooted phone and now it doesn't show in quick info.

That's very weird. I guess the a2sd script doesn't succeed in mounting the second partition.

Im totally flabbergasted. I cannot get it back to work. I did exactly what I did before, but it just isn't working out. The mount doesn't stick and moreover the files aren't being transferred to my SD card anymore... WTH

Reading your posts is like reading what's happening here! I've tried everything to get this working again... still no luck.

I mounted the ext2 partition then did a a2sd check, which says everything is working, but, it lies... nothing is happening.

I gave up and have just finished flashing the R4 ROM with A2SD built in from the kitchen and restored all my data using Titanium Backup.

However, some widgets refuse to work (ForceClose). I managed to solve these issues by reinstalling those widgets from the market.

However, the command 'a2sd check' doesn't work anymore in the terminal window. It says 'command not found'. '/system/bin/a2sd check' doesn't work either.. Any ideas why ?

I did the decent thing and signed up for ad free and cooked my own rom, complete with a2sd. Worked perfectly.

One thing I have noticed is that quick system info shows info not available when the usb cable is plugged in. Minor thing, as long as a2sd installed apps still work.

So, how do you tell what's on there? I'm sure somewhere theres a post that explains that.. off to find it!

I've had similar strange problems. I did a nandroid backup, then partitioned my card, and installed A2SD. Then I decided my 256MB wasn't big enough, so repartitioned, and it wouldn't boot. Then I did a nandroid restore, re-installed A2SD, and it just won't recognise my ext2 partition. If I do it with ROM Manager, then Minitool Partition Wizard thinks it's ext3. I'm giving in and downloading GParted, to try and partition with that.

The a2sd check script probably isn't implemented in this rom. You can just check if it's mounted with the mount command, or you can get root explorer or es file explorer and check what is in /system/sd/app.
