Custom rom with a2sd?

If you want to make use of A2SD, then yes, you need to partition your SD card. I would suggest you make sure it's at least a Class 2 card, because otherwise your system will slow down as it loads aps from the card. GParted is one way of partitioning, otherwise, you can use Partition Wizard which is a free Windows application. If you're nervous of doing it, watch this video tutorial using partition wizard.

Well just flashed a version of r4 with a2sd and it works perfectly.

Hardware acceleration being enabled has also transformed the gaming potential of this device.

Yeah Matt I have just cooked a rom with apps2sd included, you can get it here if you still need it.

I was having problems to install a2sd following Villainrom post and decided to install 900i rom - so far works great, thanks!

when I enter the terminal emulator and I try to do the mount command dev ... etc. I get this writing is normal? did it work?

There are filesystem-specific -o flags.

also when I check a2sd tells me that the partition is not mounted.

I am not an expert but this is what I did:

1. Made two primary partitions in your SD card (a good spped 4 SD card). First a Fat32 (were you will store all your data) and then a EXT2 (were apps willbe installed) - recomended size no bigger than 750 MB althoug some people are using 1GB.

2.Put zip file room with a2sd into Sd card. i also put my backup data (titanium,etc..).

3. Install room with clockmode rcovery and that's all. All your apps will be in the ext2 partition (check this with quick system info or similar app). you may lose some widgets and have new apps from the choosen room but you can easily back up with Titanium.

I mounted the sd and quick pro system recognized me free space. But when I installed an application on the phone I continued to use the phone's memory. Furthermore, when I rebooted the phone system quick pro not recognized me as the partition and through the terminal emulator I had to again mount the sd.

Why?

I formatted my SD (2GB) as required:

1) FAT32 - 1145.99MB - Primary

2) EXT2 - 768.74MB - Primary

Then I reboot my phone and turn to Clockmode recovery, and re-flash with the update.zip from provided here.

What shoould I expect to see if App2SD it is successfully installed ?

I tried terminal with "a2sd check" but nothing comes up.

Ok, I installed MCR r4 instead and a2sd as well, installed the Quick System Info app and i have A2SD storage.

how do i install my apps on A2SD storage ? thanks for helping me, such a newbie :rolleyes:

Once you've installed and have partitioned the apps2sd.zip sd .... put it in your phone and run it in clockwork .... go to restore and mount and mount put sd-ext. after restart the phone and install terminal emulator.

start it and put these commands.

# Su

# Mount / dev/blobk/mmcblk0p2 / system / sd

now you have mounted the sd and it works ... you app2sd space with the test app quick system info

the pre-baked R4 doesn't have a2sd installed, you need to subscibe so you cook your own ROM with it in. Not unfair, the site need to get income to survive and the amount of work they do for us noobs is amazing.

The app2sd zip file from Dark Tremor is know to cause problems, I tried it and gave up. The small amount to subscribe and get a perfect working a2sd rom is worth every penny.
