LOLOH2

It was not case to rename it. Because I thought about making update TO beta and You still are mirroring whole beta (altough updated).

you use SD installation or My Storage installation ? I've tested with My Storage and is fine. Did you forget to root the phobne before the first reboot ?

- cd /media/disk

- cd /system/bin

- rm -f su

- ln -s /system/xbin/su su

Can I suggest people who are making all-in-one packages add a text file at the root, say description.txt, that contains some descriptions,

ie who when what etc?

I am very intersted to make this working on Android, or just upload "mod for korea omnia2 beta1 kernel" to megaupload or something like. Any advicees or a tutorial are welcome. Please share your experience. For this is Modaco forum. Sharing , teach and learn one from another.

hi,

after the update for the 3G issue, my phone catch the network and uncatch it every 2 minutes, same in Winmo.

The only solution is to disable HSDPA/HSUPA in samsung setting in winmo for correcting the problem.

How can i do to avoid the problem when enabling HSDPA/HSUPA ?

thanks.

Hi!

As I posted a lot of pages ago, I have done the update as kapica outlined on other thread: http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...t&p=1596131 .

I did the first step with gparted, but I think maybe it is not necessary since the script on o2beta already formats the ext2 partition.

The first/second boot were a bit complicated, I got a sleep of death and WIFI didn't seem to run. But now everything is working again (didn't do anything) abd hope it stays that way.

Once again, all that people having problems with ubuntu or not knowing what to do, and wanting to do a simple install to the SD, check the forementioned post and try that method.

Regards.

Has anyone done any benchmarks on the My Storage memory? Is it fast enough to bother with? Is it faster than class 6 microSD? Class 10? Obviously what we need is a real ROM once this becomes stable :P

Yesterday, I copied the files to the My storage from the PC under Ubuntu VM and I achieved speed of 2 MB/s. I don't know why but the Android on My storage is working faster than my SD card even if the SD card is faster. I suppose that it's related to the problem with the interfaces. Below I attached three benchmarks that I did.

1. MySDcard is NTFS SD card Kingston SDC2/16GB class 2 attached like storage to the PC

2. MySDcard-reader is the same card but attached through an adapter to the SD card reader of my PC.

3. Mystorage is FAT internal memory attached like storage to the PC

Don't mind so much all these tests because they're made under WinMo and there are big differences from Android on driver level (as I mentioned few post above for the WiFi). Another bottleneck could be the saturated USB interface but usually it is synced on down and up speeds. So it doesn't explain the low write speeds. And finally there're differences on level of the filesystems: fat, ntfs, ext2,ext3.

I have a question for the people whe have Beta2 running:

How long last your battery now, without playing, without WiFi, only phone calls, 3G data?

Yesterday I tried to use the phone under Android. Unplugged @90% the battery and played 30-40 mins music via Poweramp. 2-3 phone calls 1 min each (the Call light was unloaded) and after roughly 4 hours I was at 25% mark. For all this time I hadn't even single sleep of death but the waking up is really tough to do with pressing all the keys many times.

I can already confirm that with beta 1 the WiFi was more stable on connecting level. I couldn't receive also a GPS fix even under open sky but anyway my phone is not very capable of it even under WinMo.

edit: the order of the pictures

..just had a telephone call, about 25 min long, battery dropped about 30%, and phone is warm as s*** :D

Gauge battery widget says it went up to 40 degrees C :P

I took a longer call last night and didn't have any of those problems.

Now, after running Android for about 12 hours straight I got my first sleep of death :huh:

Hi everybody,

I would make my own ext2.tar.gz with updates included. Its possible ?

I use Beta 1 + Radie's update package - February 4 2011 to training to make full install Beta 1.... and later I will see Beta 2

I can make archive with this command #tar -czvf ext2.tar.gz ext2/

But I have a small problem - I cannot make a folder call "." so how to make folder call "dot" next I can make my archive.

cause actually I did my archive with ext2 name but if you open without extract the original archive ext2.tar.gz there is a folder call "dot" ......

hi ,

on beta one i had troubles with market. after a clean install it worked again.

on beta 2 market again no downloads. so i thought lets reinstall. well it didn't help at all.

so i did this

in ubuntu i opened system/apps from (beta1) ext2.tar.gz. there i took gtalk.apk , gtalkservice.apk , market updater.apk and placed it on desktop ubuntu.

i opened disk/system/apps. there i replaced the files that i just took from ext2.tar. had to change the properties from the files. to read and write in order to make it happen. then i disconnected the phone. and started android.

then i noticed that gtalk is in the menu ( didn't have that or did not work) i opened gtalk and login.

and opened market and

i now can dowload.

hope this will work for more people because i know there are allot who wants it to work.

greets tjeerdos

How to install properly:

1. copy the original beta1 files to My Storage; ( http://87.229.73.80/beta1024.zip or http://87.229.73.80/beta512.zip)

2. run Haret from o2beta folder;

3. terminal text is running but no andoid logo or xwindow. It restart it self;

4. unpack the Radie's update package - February 4 2011 to My Storage root; ( http://www.4shared.com/file/_whhj7dR/Updates.html )

5. restart (using Haret from My Storage root). Andoid logo and everything;

6. copy beta2 files to My Storage root; ( http://87.229.73.80/o2bupdate.zip and http://87.229.73.80/o2b2filesys.zip)

7. restart. Everything looks fine. A couple of freezes, but after a couple of resets everything was running;

8. copy the o2b2update.tar.gz update from 2010.02.10 to My Storage root. Rename it to o2bupdate.tar.gz; ( http://o2droid.phj.hu/o2b2update.tar.gz )

9. restart. Android logo running smooth, everything is ok. GPRS data is ok and really fast.

6. copy beta2 files to My Storage root; ( http://87.229.73.80/o2bupdate.zip and http://87.229.73.80/o2b2filesys.zip)

The link for o2b2filesys.zip is broken. Correct is:

http://87.229.73.80/o2b2filesys.zip

May i suggest someone to put all those files togheter in one big update package?

Thank you.

kk...i'm giving some feedback here...

I was playing music for 6 hours today...from 6:00 AM-12:00... Battery is completely on 0% :P

In between I did some multi-tasking and no programs crashed...Had 3g active for about 3 hours from 9:00 AM-12:00 while listening to music, so I browsed a little, and it was very stable...

Today, no programs crashed, didn't have a sleep of death or anything like it but I did notice that sometimes when waking up the phone, It takes about 5 seconds to unlock after the button press...I also see the background commands that register key press before the actual lockscreen shows up and lockscreen seems to freeze for just 1 second ( it becomes slightly yellow on the screen, i think thats a sign for a short freeze or something, might be initializing or something )...

I use PowerAMP to play music, and it is awesome, Equalizer works perfectly with the sound output (both headphones and speaker)

Also noticed a lot of games working great with 2d/3d drivers( eg. finger bowling, fruit ninja, tom the talking cat, paper toss, ninjump,)

Facebook and Twitter and everything else related to networking works perfectly...Had a few crashes on Facebook widget in the beginning, but now it works perfectly...

Summary: The beta2 is in a great state as it is and it can be used for daily usage if you use the phone for 6 hours throughout the day...Tested standby as well, it can last for a loooong time...Battery decreases 3 % every 6 hours If i remember correctly...Calls and messaging work great (never had heat issues or rapid battery depleting while talking) except when i receive a MMS, the messaging application crashes every time...

There, my 2 cents to giving feedback...

Thank you for this great piece of work and please keep it up :D
