Guest Simon O Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the rom, Sebastian. Downloading now and going to see what I can do with it  Oh and I've let Paul know about this in case the ROM is better for MCR. Edited November 10, 2010 by flibblesan
Guest Sebastian404 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Is the update file compatible with the orange's blade? I'm tempted to test this without the branded stuff... Yeah, it seems to be the same hardware, eveyrthing works, tho you will need to update the APN file for 3G
Guest Sebastian404 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks for the rom, Sebastian. Downloading now and going to see what I can do with it  Oh and I've let Paul know about this in case the ROM is better for MCR. I had a bit a of a play, the LED notification and Wifi is just as 'broken' for me as the OUK version, but do let me know if you find anything good in it
Guest jonathonf Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I installed this about a half hour ago and first impressions are good. It's faster than Modaco r4, and my wifi seems to be working correctly at the moment.
Guest dadashi Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 any chance of getting the 2.2 ROM from the Japanese "liber0" version? http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/smartphone/product/003z/index.html

This is an issue with my WAP I think, but at least I got further with it than I ever did with the OUK rom... Edited November 11, 2010 by Sebastian404

Please wait for the market.
Guest oh!dougal Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) The thing that leapt out at me from the Google Translate version of the Japanese page was this Be released since mid-December 2010 So you have about a month to wait before the product is expected ... http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1469087 Edited November 10, 2010 by oh!dougal
Guest dadashi Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I prefer San Francisco. Doesn't sound as cheap as ZTE. Anyway, here are the pics: The pictures show the french ZTE doesn't have the same back panel rubbery finish as the SF....I've had my SF in a pull case for a few days and the rubber finish started wearing away after just 3 days
Guest Sebastian404 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Its also worth noting that Orange France are going to be putting out their version of the ZTE Blade later this month... France Telecom’s Orange, which has already sold the phone in the U.K. with the name “The San Francisco” since September, will also sell the device in France as the “Tactile Internet 2″ starting Nov. 18, an Orange spokesman said. It will sell the phone in France for 249 euros ($343) without any service plan and starting at 9 euros with a post-paid plan.

Guest Sebastian404 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Though its the same Kernel, it would indeed be interesting to know if any ZTE things like the FM Radio and Camera software had been changed beyond French 'localisation'. Its not the EXACT same Kernel... Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) that's great news for San Francisco / Blade fans in mainland Europe, but judging by the french prices they'll be expensive... this could only mean we'll have support for the mobile in the future, spare batteries, cases, 2.2 roms, 2.3 ? Edited November 11, 2010 by dadashi
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Sebastian, did you change anything from the stock ROM in the French ROM you posted on page 2? I removed all the junk from it and it's now a very clean 2.1 ROM and I was going enhance it a bit when I noticed VoiceSearch was allready included and I have a feeling that JIT may be enabled. Maybe thoses things where in the Orange ROM aswell but I picked up my blade yesterday and reflashed with the french ROM yesterday afternoon so I never did run the original ROM for long. Seems OK though, haven't found anything that is broken so far except that I've got an app that uses the google maps framework that force closes which I know can happen with JIT on 2.1. Also my linpack scores are a lot higher than on my Huawei U8100 running at 672MHz. But maybe the blade CPU is faster than the MSM7225 even at a lower speed?

Guest kallt_kaffe Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Kallt_kaffe, what exactly is your Linpack score? ~3.8 btw, tried enabling the debug.sf.hw but I get graphical glitches, how was this fixed (or was it not?) in the Orange custom ROMs? EDIT: Nevermind, copied the gralloc.msm7k lib from pauls ROM. Edited November 11, 2010 by kallt_kaffe
Guest Tom G Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Sebastian, are the ril libraries from the French rom compatible with the Orange baseband, or did you replace them with Orange libs. I'm downloading the rom now to see if it will help with the ril issues i've got in cm6.

The source for the tactile 2 has been on the zte site for about as long as our original sanfrancisco source so I expect it's probably around the same build version, also my contact at ZTE suggested that there are no 2.2 plans for Europe  Wonder why that is, did Europe go for the device before elsewhere and therefore sign contracts for 2.1 deliveries?

Don't know if you are aware but Aquilo is also working on a CM port, perhaps you might be able to help each other?
Guest spoonium Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Wow thats expensive. Not necessarily, it's about in the same price range as any other starter device available here in Germay, indeed it still would be on the lower end. And it still would have vastly superior specs than its competitors. That's what makes the UK devices such a great deal.
Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I heard Orange has been leaning towards the right in English politics, this couldbe one of many drives from different fronts by the tories on the British public to keep them occupied instead of pouring out unto the streets like the 1980's against Thatchers "reforms".....
Guest spoonium Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not after me"?

Don't know if you are aware but Aquilo is also working on a CM port, perhaps you might be able to help each other? I've had it for a few weeks. RIL has been a problem with porting anything, but if we can fix that I don't see any other major issues. I've had some issues with egl, but I think that should be fixable. CM6 has been discussed on IRC a fair bit, there are a few of us that have been playing with it. I think Aquilo is on there with a different username.
