Help Required for upgrading from 6.1 to 6.5

Hello everyone,

I am having I8000 Omnia 2 from last one year with WinMo 6.1 default rom. Details of which are as under.

PDA: I8000DDII3

CSC: I8000INUII3

Phone: I8000XXII4

I have been waiting for Samsung to release official update of Winmo 6.5 for mycountry India, but till now I dontsee any hope. So I have decided to flash my phone to WinMo 6.5 or 6.5.3 using Octans method. As I am very noob in these things, can u plese suggest me how to do that? I hv already read flashing guide and having some doubts.

1> Can I use any Samsung Official Rom of any country? Suggest me the best and latest one with WinMo 6.5 or 6.5.3 or 6.5.5 or whatever u think is best for my phone.

2> I read that I should only upgrade PDA & CSC part. But it also said that if u r upgrading from 6.1 to 6.5 then u should upgrade the eboot also. I m confused here. Pls suggest me for my condition, should i upgrade all four parts eboot, pda, csc and phone or should i upgrade only PDA and CSC to be on safer side. What happen if i dont upgrade eboot and phone part?

Edit: Also pls provide a link to samsung official english rom that will work on my phone.

my advice to you is, read topics in pinned section and read them again. you will know almost everything you need to know about flashing. no one can tell you which ROM is best for you instead of yourself. flash couple of ROMs that you are interested and see if u like it. otherwise, just flash another one. there are lot english ROMs here.

First of all thanks for reply.

OK. Now I hv downloaded a ROM called I8000NXXJI1 from SAMFIRMWARE.COM which i think is official ROM. I decided to use octans mini to be on safer side. But when i select csc file in octans, there are lots of csc file in section csc file select like I8000AMNJI1.csc, I8000AUTJI1.csc etc. I m confused now which one to select. I looked in to flash guide in the more info on csc section and found that these are csc for different regions and language and mobile operators. My phone is unlocked. So I am confused which file to select and what happened if i select one csc with english lang and some mobile operator?

try XXEUJI1, if it's in the CSC. i havent got chance to download it yet, but that's the CSC i use for all previouse official ROMs. it's none branded and you can setup your own internet and mms.

Do u mean XEUJI1? Bcoz i dont find XXEUJI1 but i found XEUJI1 in csc section of octans downloader.

ya, thats it. although, if your old CSC works for you, you dont have to flash the CSC part. just flash the PDA part .nb0

you can flash all 4 parts if you prefer, however, it is ok to flash PDA only. since you have never done this, i suggest you to flash only the PDA part. flashing CSC dose not affect the performence of your phone, you can't brick your phone by just flashing PDA part. CSC only contains network setup and some other minor stuff, i don't wanna scare you or anything, but you will be taking the risk if you flash eboot and phone part.
