Guest TimoBeil Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 10x! I've finally found a guide in XDA how to revert to the original rom but I think I'll wait till the release and then see if there isn't an easier way to flash it! So do I. I hope that the specialists of Modaco or xda are producing an update.zip of the original Froyo.
Guest Cue_32 Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Only the ROM? It is here: http://imageshp.net/111_6267_00.pkg There is also a very good modified guide. Unfortunately, in German. I do not know if google-translator German-Bulgarian makes good ... http://imageshp.net/dell_streak.html Is this the same ROM for the BETA units for AT&T in Austin? If not, any idea where I can get that?
Guest strvmarv Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 I'm very happy with Steve's 2.2, but just for kicks I've been messing around in an effort to get the OTA stuff setup like in the stock ROM. In build.prop: ro.build.oemversion.main=the version that's tacked onto the mobileupdate.dell.com as a parameter What I haven't figured out yet is what controls the OTA server between dell and zingstaging. Anyone know where this value is stored? Either way, I'm guessing that baseband will be an issue for most, so it's likely we'll have to flash a stock recovery and perform the emergency flash to revert to stock either before or after the official release of 2.2. Like I said though, I'm very happy with Steve's 2.2, and I'll be waiting for him to rebuild his ROM with dell's 2.2. source after it's release. I have no reason to go stock at this point. The launcher, while an improvement over 1.6, still sucks. ADW all the way baby!
Guest dumavi Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 now mobileupdate.dell.com/streak/ and /uptodate/ are blocked  Would be odd for them to release it on a friday, that would mean they'd have to keep people on hand over the weekend to make sure it goes smoothly. Think we're gonna have to wait till monday.. also see this snap of an email someone posted in a comment over at streaksmart it says it will either be today or early next week. http://cid-aea8ceb5d1f3c000.office.live.co...yo%20Update.JPG Yes, I think update release can be next week, if we hope in message sent to me for Amy Bivin. Guest Fone_Fanatic Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 http://support.dell.com/support/topics/glo...lang=en&cs= Its funny how near the bottom is 2.1 had the option for the home screen to be portrait or landscape when its still locked to landscape.. oh well 2.2 is on the way!
Guest dancemb Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 This is definatly an update I had been waiting for, seeing as a lot of fun I would need the 2.2 installed because of flash. Sounds like it will be pre-installed on the devices bought from Dell Direct, as they have about the 2.2 posted direct on there site, but doubt it will be available right now, even if everyone is saying its now available, but at least its coming before the end of November, which is great news to all of us, im sure. I will sit back and see how everyone is finding this new version, hopefully it will work successfully without any problems that occured the first time around
Guest slarty01 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Lol  you were really getting my hopes up I was expecting video conferencing next week! ... I can dream  lol I blame Swype as that's what I posted that with... Will edit the post now

Tango doesn't work on the Streak it doesn't recognize the camera even on 2.2............it's the apps that need to point to the camera, not the os anyway.........fring has worked on all versions for the Streak.
Guest adzman808 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 if only skype hadn't fuct fring over for phone to pc web cam calling, as superb as fring is (& it is) i just don't have a use for it as it currently stands if you know someone else running fring on thier device then no reason why you can't video call them!
Guest slarty01 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I'll give it another go .. I'll persevere  it was just clunky in contrast to Tango and anyone I knew didn't like Fring on the iPhone, Shame it doesn't work on Streak. Thanks if only skype hadn't fuct fring over for phone to pc web cam calling, as superb as fring is (& it is) i just don't have a use for it as it currently stands if you know someone else running fring on thier device then no reason why you can't video call them!
Guest kev24k Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Going live today http://en.community.dell.com/dell-blogs/Di...-will-work.aspx Questuon. Its goijg to unlocked units first. Does this mean if I get an unlock code from att ill be eligible now?? Also, will people who get the official update be able to share it easily online? Thanks!
Guest dancemb Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Many thanks for this post from Dell Direct. Looks like its finally happening for everybody, the full power of the Streak will finally get to be recognised! This was the only problem I had about buying my Streak early because of not having 2.2. Im wondering, if you buy direct from Dell, will the Streak's come pre-installed with 2.2? Might be worth it rather than waiting another month or so before O2 locked handsets get the green light to go ahead with the update, as it will take time for them both to agree after the mess it caused last time!

Thanks! no it means you bought the device unlocked. namely, the devices with the 00 baseband. anyone know a way to downgrade to the 1.6 firmware for 00 devices?
