Guest Bazza76 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Installed Espresso (Desire V2) framework and I'm getting a large green button with a '+' floating at the top of the lock screen. Anyone have any idea what's causing it / a fix? Also now have no boot logo / animation, just a blank screen. Not so bothered about that, as I was try to dump those anyway, but is an issue. Its using a different framework. Bazza
Guest kendon Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 first Installed Espresso (Desire V2) framework then I'm getting a large green button with a '+' floating at the top of the lock screen. and Also now have no boot logo / animation, just a blank screen. and you are really wondering what's causing it ?
Guest Matt C Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Chaps, just put this on the Rooted SF to give it a go, seems to have installed but is asking for a SIM network unlock PIN?? I am assuming this is to network unlock my phone - which shouldn't need doing as mine is an Orange SIM! I have tried 1111 and 0000 incase its just a SIM PIN (which I don't have anyway) Anyone else had this? Am going to restore from Clockwork until I get an answer back to Paul's R4 Rom... Arrrgh!!!!
Guest kendon Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) tried an unlock code? (hint: there is a thread for free codes here in the forums, which have been reported to work). edit: is it asking for an unlock code or for your sim pin? Edited November 16, 2010 by kendon
Guest Matt C Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 tried an unlock code? (hint: there is a thread for free codes here in the forums, which have been reported to work). edit: is it asking for an unlock code or for your sim pin? SIM network unlock PIN is the term... Now the phone is stuck on the boot screen when doing a clockwork restore to the R4 ROM... Have just ripped the SD card out to see if that helps... Shouldn't fiddle at work, will have no phone today I think!
Guest kendon Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 remember to wipe before you restore!
Guest Matt C Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I did, infact have totally wiped everything apart from the EXT partition on the SD card, which might be causing all the problems... So, I will have to wait till I get home so that I can redo the SD card partitions from scratch, as that's the only way I managed to get it working! Sort of works now, have to factory reset then start with no SD card inserted, ends up turned on but with nothing apart from the status bar at the top of screen. Though it does let me mount the SD card so I put my cooked copy of R4 on it - but re-flashing that hasn't fixed it... Ho hum - my fault!
Guest Matt C Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Managed to get an unlock code (had to use another phone browser as works PC had locked down the site that was mentioned in the thread) and I used Partition Wizard to redo the partitions on the SD card, put the BladeVillain 1.0.1 on and reflashed (having wiped everything beforehand!)... Have to rebuild the phone (thanks to AppBrain) and will get the rest of my backup from home... Thanks for the help.
Guest wl_sf Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Thanks for the obnoxious comment Kendon. Spent a day or so with the ROM and it's very good, really enjoying it apart from the floating green '+' button, which is also appearing on the calendar app as well as the lock screen. The framework is for the MoDaCo stock ROM, but would have though it wouldn't be so different. Will look at a fix and post what I find. Steps I went through for the unlock: 1. Booted to the lock screen. 2. Hit emergency call and typed in *#06# 3. Went to http://www.nextgenserver.com/calculator/ 4. Typed in the IMEI number in the box. 5. Selected ZTE from the drop down 6. Then ZTE Bluebelt 7. Typed in the Captcha 8. Hit Order button 9. Waited (it took a little while) 10. Typed in the unlock code Worked first time.
Guest wl_sf Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) *FIXED* [EDIT] Seems just to be the way it sets Email up differently. Fixed with this thread http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-gen...y-good-way.html Hotmail appears to act differently in this compared to the MoDaCo r4 ROM in that on a POP3 account it pulls down 30 emails, regardless on if they're new since check. Guest BigD18t Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Kendon, i have the same problem with your rom, i flashed, all booted fine, but i get asked for a sim unlock pin, i will trythe free code thing tonite and see how it goes. could it be something to do with wavesecure ?
Guest stylezuk Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Awesome ROM not found a fault and very fast B)
Guest xionation Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I must admit, in my opinion this is the fastest 2.1 rom ive tryed B)
Guest super san francisco Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 This is a really nice rom, but has some small things messing with my brain, like the ever appearing "sc card mounted" notification and no means to disable it, same a the missing "use data connection" button on the wireless settings (i know it's like that with the french rom). don't know whether it's the rom or something else, but the battery drains really fast. it loses like 3 percent just wandering around the menu screen for 5 minutes. but then doesn't even lose 2 percent on being in standby for 5 hours.... very strange behaviour, or maybe the battery is just messed up. any thoughts on this one?
Guest achmann Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I really like this ROM. Best one so far IMHO, but it seems like I can't configure the calendar app the way I want. I'd like the week to start on Monday as it's usual here in Germany but no matter what I do, the first day to be displayed is Sunday. I've tried changing first day of the week on the web-interface of Google Calendar, switched locale using the the settings dialogueas well as MoreLocale 2. Any more ideas what I could try?
Guest kendon Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 i used morelocale2, created a new locale en_DE (like my phone in english, even tho i'm german). created a new locale en_DE, now i have my weeks starting on monday. i suppose it would work with de_DE as well if you want it all german.
Guest cobhc Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I know I've mentioned this on IRC, but wanted to publicy state this is the fastest 2.1 rom I've tried, whatever you've done to it, it's very very quick in stock form. Quadrant is over 410, and Neocore seems to be nearly on par with Froyo. Keep up the great work!
Guest Surmoka Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I installed your ROM and it is really fast and things seem to owrk very nicely. Thanks for the effort. However, I can't access the Market. I don't know if this was the case with the original Orange ROM as well, never tried it, just wiped it right away. B) Applications show up, the listing works, I can choose and press Install, but things end there. Only "starting download" and it never goes beyond that. I'm trying this on Wifi. Any hints for the cause? thanks, s.

Tried that but strangely on de_DE settings weeks still start on Sundays in the calendar. So seemingly this leaves me with the choice between English UI an weeks starting on Monday or German UI and weeks starting on Sunday. Gotta figure out which one I like better... B)
Guest BillBong Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I've had a lot of problems trying to get some of the other ROMS working but this one worked straightaway with A2SD and is noticably quicker than the others I tried. The only problem I've just found is that it's not downloading apps from Marketplace. I've got a WiFi conenction and it says downloading but just stays on the flashing "scroll bar" - nothing actually comes through. Is anyone else having this?
Guest kendon Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 achmann: have you tried setting de_DE manually? maybe that makes a difference, for whatever reason... @market problems: this is a common market problem, log into gtalk, then the download will start. you can log out of gtalk as soon as the download starts.
Guest kendon Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Btw, id love to get my hands on a stock system dump from the hungaria device, if anyone got one lemme know B)
Guest Surmoka Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Btw, id love to get my hands on a stock system dump from the hungaria device, if anyone got one lemme know B) I have a British San Francisco but many around me got a Hungarian version, so I can dump one for you. I'm not exactly sure how to do it, though. By the way, I found the solution to Market not being able to download anything. It is because Google uses different authentications for @gmail.com and @googlemail.com. I've set my account to @gmail on the computer and logged into it using the phone, and market is working straight away. One "bug report" for your ROM: the stock task manager crashes when switching to "resources".
Guest achmann Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 achmann: have you tried setting de_DE manually? maybe that makes a difference, for whatever reason... did that, no differrence B)

Hi Kendon, Thanks for your suggestion. I tried that (I go to settings>talk?) and I can see gtalk as a running application, but no effect on the downloads. I've got about 5 updates stuck on the downloading bar but still no movement. I've tried rebooting, switching it to 3G. Its annoying because apart from this issue, its running very fast on the phone. 0I'm thinking of reflashing the ROM after formatting the SD card and EXT partition but I don't want to do this if there's a simple reset somewhere to kick start the market!
