Guest Qwertzycoatl Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Hi flibble, great to see you're back!! I'm running the initial r6 version but I made the fixes that were in r6a myself (notably the updated contactsprovider.apk and wifi file). Would that make it okay to update to r8a without wipe? Cheers! When I did that I got FCs with Contacts :P Had to wipe and re-install R7 (current at the time) and it was all fine. I would suggest you can try it but don't expect too much...pretty sure Flib mentions it in the 1st/2nd post about needing a wipe
Guest Simon O Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 If you've been using r6 with the contact fixes then you can install r8a without a wipe. I've fixed the latest contactsprovider.
Guest wishmasterf Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 i reflashed r8a. still the same problem. I seems that the gingerbread theme broke anything.... :-( After reflash i seems everything works well, but after a while i get the error about com.android.vending again. Last ting i did was to enable enable sd-card for usb. please help me. i dont know whats wrong. I've my back to the wall. :P
Guest davelong Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 I think that when R6 was out it was suggested that it was best installed via recovery manager as opposed to a manual flash from clockwork, is that still a recommendation or can I just flash from clockwork this flash for me will be a full wipe/clear flash. Dave
Guest mantokoski Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) Facebook 1.5.1 problem on Saunalahti Blade! "Cannot retrieve the notifications. Please try again later. [Connection reset by peer]" Rarely it loads the notifications. Most of the time it just gives the error again and again. r6 also had this problem if Facebook updated to 1.5.1. With 1.5.0 no problem. Can this be fixed or is it possible for me to downgrade to 1.5.0 somehow, even though I guess r8 comes with 1.5.1 installed? Good thing is that taking a photo directly with Facebook app doesn't crash the camera anymore and cause an error message. So taking photos directly with Facebook app seems to work with r8. Guest johannes140 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Flibblesan, just a small issue: The power control widget that comes with this version of launcher2 does not show an option to enable/disable data, only synch on/off. Apart from this, rls 8a works great - no slow wifi or gsm signal dropping! great work! :P
Guest toge64 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 just went to r8a without a wipe from my upgrade yesterday - hope this is right!
Guest petryk1 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Flibblesan, it is fantastic. Thank you. :P Peter, Slovakia.
Guest adamguest1985 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks for the fixes. Top stuff. Any way to add a contacts button or menu item in the messaging app, appears I need to type the name or number rather than selecting the contacts option and clicking someone like I have in other Roms? Cheers pal.

Guest Steveharr Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Can the r8a Slim version be used with Clockwork too?

No one else with that problem? Oh I think I know whats causing it. I'm using a script from Paul which replaces some icons in apps. One of them is the market. /system/etc/init.d/80vending If you're not that bothered about the icons being changed then you can remove the scripts from the zip before flashing. Sorry they are causing problems for you. Update: Uploaded a version of the theme pack without these scripts. Edited February 6, 2011 by flibblesan
Guest rutteger Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Great ROM, best I've tried on the Blade yet.
Guest johannes140 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 flibblesan, could you edit settings.apk so that the power control widget has an option to turn data on/off (this is standard in most 2.2 roms). i also have the problem adamguest1985 described, there is no "add contact" to a new message option. thanks for your hard work, it is very much appreciated :P
Guest Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Well I've reverted back to JJ9 and ... have the same issue. Was fine before - so I guess my phone is screwed. 2G only gives a full signal. Anything else barely gets a signal. Neither gets data. Off back to Argos tomorrow. :-(

I'm sure one I tried had both in a row of 5 - would be great to get data back :P

Cheers pal. Not a feature of the stock messaging application which I'm using. You would have to install an alternative application or use a version from another rom that provides that function. The whole point of this rom is to provide a stock experience without any silly customizations that ZTE etc put in place. You could select a contact in the contacts app then select the messaging icon to send a message too? Edited February 6, 2011 by flibblesan

Guest mantokoski Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 GSM/WCDMA call settings didn't work. Network or SIM card error. But then I simply "called" *43# to enable Call waiting, after that all the settings magically began to work :P
Guest adamguest1985 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) No worries, with regards to the msg app, if I pulled the file from another 2.2 (jj perhaps) is it likely to break anything elsewhere in the ROM? I'm assuming I can just replace an APK (will look later) in the zip? Edited February 6, 2011 by adamguest1985

So does everyone want the current settings app replaced with this? http://www.multiupload.com/3UZS0HZAPC Edited February 6, 2011 by flibblesan
