Guest lljkpugna Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I'm trying to get the proximity sensor calibration to work and getting nowhere. The initial code doesn't work ('unknown application'), flashing flb_testmode.zip and entering the longer code doesn't work (same error), and I can't find the 'engineering menu' Flibble was going to include in R6 anywhere... Any ideas?
Guest paskaapaskaa Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Okay, Im thinking of installing this rom over JJ9 for testing. I was just wondering if I can remove apps that I dont need from the zip by winrar / similiar. Just go to the apps folder and select the ones you dont need and press delete, correct? Or do I need to do something different.

Guest tom619 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Do you have your SD card partitioned? If you don't then the phone will use the Froyo method of moving apps which not all applications support and not all will move to SD by default. If you dont have your SD card partitioned then you can install Move2SD enabler root from the market and set it to force all apps to install to the SD. No its not partitioned anymore just 2gb fat, i can repartition though what formats/sizes should i use on my 2gb card? Also i notice in the release notes it says added reboot to power menu but its not in my menu when i hold down power button? And i also noticed as someone earlier mentioned that the preinstalled apps such as facebook and twitter dont show up as being already installed in market? Not that im knit-picking i love this rom to bits PS any gingerbread theme screenshots would be appreciated! Edited February 13, 2011 by tom619

Guest remlap Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Either go back into clockwork, and clear the cache/factory reset, or reflash the rom, but don't flash anything else until you reboot it at least once. Yeah I went and reflashed in Clockwork with Jellyfish didn't like so went with Paul's rom might be brave enough to go with FLB sometime soon. Thanks for your help. Edited February 13, 2011 by remlap
Guest vnecks Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 If you leave the phone on charge it will eventually change to green, be patient! Green indicates over 90% charged. Sounds like you may need to re-calibrate your battery stats. See here. Hope this helps... :D Attempting to max the battery as shown in the recalibration thread seems to have worked that green LED into life. Thanks. I was sure I'd left it long enough before, perhaps I was a little bit premature.

Guest jsuln11 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 hello, ive got a problem with the r6 version of this rom. Everything works, except i cant connect the phone with my mac with usb. When i plug the cable, the phone starts charging, but i dont get the usb options - to act like an USB device and usb debbuging like in the r3a version. What is the problem? thanks, j.
Guest tom619 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Should i enable a swap size if i create a partition using clockwork guys? Edit: scratch that just read ztedds guide please delete this post. Edited February 13, 2011 by tom619
Guest SqueakyG Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) I just posted this in another thread, and decided it's pertinent here too: When I arrived here it seemed like the two big contenders were JJ and MCR. I have tried both of these (JJ9 and MCR r12) and there are things I like and don't like about both, but they are generally identical in terms of speed and battery life. I don't plan to flash ROMs very often now, since it takes up a whole evening playing with a new one and I'm quite busy. But it seems like FLB is well-respected, so can anyone tell me why they think it's better than JJ or MCR? I do admire the fact that flibblesan is very active on the forums and so dedicated to his ROM, but is it better? I think I've been put off by some things I read about how it messes around with audio levels, and some other bugs such as wifi switching phone signal off. Edited February 14, 2011 by SqueakyG
Guest targetbsp Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 As you've realised, JJ and MCR are fairly similar. This is also fairly similar. :D This one is of most interest to me as the one being actively developed atm (as JJ stopped being developed a while ago and Paul is away for a while so MCR won't see an update for a few weeks). I have all 3 backed up to SD that I swap between as updates come out and I don't think there's much between them. I've never had any trouble with battery life or GPS or anything with any of them. I wouldn't rate one massively over the other unless there was a bug fix or feature I needed. Probably the way to decide is by specifying what you don't like (as you said there are things) about your current 2 roms and someone can tell you if it's different here. I've not noticed any trouble with my phone signal and my mp3's sound the same to me.

Look at what the people say: In general FLB-Froyo G2 has been excellent. I switched from the JJ recently. This feels much smoother even without overclocking and also drains battery much slower. I switched from JJRLS4 (+ the new kernel) to FLB8a (slim edition) and overall I think the performance & battery usage have been better. But I still need few days to experiment with the options. i have switched from jj9 to r8a r8a is better especially for the battery Can someone please help. I have ran this as my rom for two days now and i can't get my battery to drain as fast as Japanese Jellyfish? I overclocked to 710mhz and enabled HWUI...the rom got smoother but still my battery lasts longer...i think something is broken???? I can't get over just how good battery life is for me on this rom... For me personally. On a normal work day my usage is pretty much identical each day. On Japanese Jellyfish i'm off the charger at half 6 then by 12 (5 and a half hours) it has gone low end of 70 odd percent. Today same usage with this rom high end of 80 and the same previous work day. It may not be massive difference but to me 10% is 10%. :D FLB FTW :D
Guest Simon O Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Thanks guys. Sorry that r9 hasn't been released yet but sadly a few of the planned fixes still haven't been done. I'm having a great deal of trouble trying to fix the signal bars. I have since noticed that the display is only cosmetic as third party apps are seeing the correct signal strength so I don't believe the phone is losing network because of this. Talking of the loss of network with wifi enabled issue that people are reporting. Sadly I'm no closer to finding what is causing this or even replicating the bug myself. I know some people have mentioned that forcing the phone to use 2G only causes this but I've tried this myself and I dont lose network. Stumped a bit :D What I may just do in the next few days is release r9 as it is with the new kernel etc then spend time trying to sort these issues out.
Guest tmmp Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Sory if not the right place to post a bug. In FLBr8a when using morelocale2 to switch language the contacts are not showened, if i have no contacr and swith to another language not only i need to reboot to have a complete system language change but the contacts list stop working i can create and in the message menu of chompSMS (not in the original app) i can see the contacts but in the actual contacts app, nothing appears. I also tryed to import the contacts before switching language and it worked but after switching to my home lang the new contacts were not showened. Edited February 14, 2011 by tmmp

I don't know if it will help you track down the cause, and other people may have a different experience, but since I experienced this I stopped using the power control widget and took wifi changes out of my timeriffic options. By only using the wifi option in the stock settings screen I seem to have eliminated this problem. It is been fine for about a week switching on and off a couple of times a day. I do use and still use the blade wifi fix which doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Guest Phil001 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Can anyone tell me, are the 2 'problems' (signal bars and no network when wifi enabled) something which is only on R8a? I am on R7a and was going to upgrade to R8a, but wont bother if i am likely to get problems. Cheers all (& thanks for this great ROM Flib!) Edited February 14, 2011 by Phil001
Guest Blues003 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 New bug. My home button stopped working. It works on Cwm (I have tried reflashing, but to no avail). I alguma using r8a. Any fix?
Guest daveypro Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 hi, 1 minor issue, I have wiped, deleted cache, rebooted, loaded r8a, synced with google, and yet i still have the caller ID issue, i have switched off the phone a couple of times, loaded the fix from the main page, contactsfix.zip, also add the caller id APK from earlier (overkill i know) , and yet no joy on caller ID. just roll with it or does anyone have a suggestion? by the way rest of the mod looks great and is nice and snappy
Guest draga Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Congratulations, this firmware is very good. I've tried some of them in my four days old San Francisco and this one seems to be the best - fastest boot and snappy. There's just one major problem, as with all the others: wifi turns itself off when screen is off, even if set to never turn it off. I've tried with those "keep awake" apps, they work but don't like too much to keep the phone awake (battery issues). Weren't newer Froyo kernel versions supposed to have fixed it? Is there any hint on WHERE the problem could originate? On other Android devices (2.1 Eclair), the issue could be solved rising the minimum cpu speed to something more than 245 MHz. Tried here, but without any success (now my mobile is running with minimum speed at 122 MHz, should save some more battery, for now just testing if it's stable enough. Anyway, great job!
Guest Freekers Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I also just switched from JJ9 to R8a and I was wondering: Is it normal that you don't get the setup wizard if you boot the ROM for the first time, were you can set your mail address and such ?
Guest eAlex79 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 It's normal if you didn't install the google apps. When you install them and try to open the Market or other things which need an account your phone will provide you with the wizard.
