Twice now I've flashed the 8a release but it has never booted automatically, is this required or will the rom work anyway?

I added the second OC kernel and changed some apps before flashing.

I think from 5a to 8a you might have to do a complete wipe...use titanium backup to backup your apps...

Is this happening to lots of people? Is it a known issue? Any workaround? This really puts me off upgrading as my contacts are a mixture of +44 and 07! :D
For the second time...... just change the bloody number in contacts to 07. It's not rocket science!

These questions have ALL been discussed before in the thread. If you can't be bothered to read the thread then don't be surprised if no one can be bothered to provide you with the answer..... and NO, I'm not interested in the fact that there are 172 pages. If you REALLY want to solve a problem you research and reading this thread has to be the easiest research EVER!

For the second time..... If you travel abroad often, or phone international numbers this could be a bit annoying to remove the country code. Why not ADD the 07 number to the contact as another number.

Seems to me there are lots of people moaning and complaining about little things in this ROM... They should be quiet - This ROM is FREE and I think it works fantastically well (considerably better than any of the others, and Ive tried 3 different ones).

If you dont like it , dont use it. Better still make your own ROM..

Hats of to Fib for the hard work, and stop complaining everyone.

There are very few things I'd class around here as actually complaining? If everyone was quiet... how would any of the rom devs know what needs fixing? :S

I can't speak for any other developer, but as a software developer myself, I'd rather people told me about any issues as opposed to buggering off and using something else! Then I can choose to fix the issue or not as I please. :D

No complaint has been destructively critic, but rather constructive. Bugs are supposed to be reported, and at no point did I see critics to Fibblesan's abilities or knowledge. If any, the fact we report problems is actually a testament of the trust that we have in him, as to being competent and knowledgeable enough to fix what is still not entirely working.

Just flash the file the same way you do the rom (In ClockworkMod). (Install zip from SD and so on).

I don't think anyone here is moaning or complaining in any negative sense. They're reporting issues with the ROM so that the author or any forum member can provide input or even their own fix for those. That's how you make the next release better than the previous one, which is what we all want, even the ROM authors. Try not to look at the comments in such a negative way :D

I don't think that's the attitude here. I may be making assumptions, but I would imagine Flibblesan gets some hobbyist enjoyment from tweaking and perfecting his ROMs, and we get a kind of hobbyist enjoyment from using the latest versions and giving constructive bug reports. Lets face it, anyone could download a much earlier version of this ROM (or MCR or JJ) and be happy that it mostly works fine. So the reasons for Flibblesan to continue working on the ROM, and for us to continue flashing new versions, must be fun.

I have the same problem.

Flibblesan has already solved this for me.

Here's his solution:

SMS app. Vibrate only seems to work fine but it's not as straight forward to set up.

Open Mms. Press menu then go to Settings. Scroll to Notification settings. Select ringtone - Silent. Vibrate - Always.

This will vibrate the phone when you have a text but won't make a noise. Be aware that you can only change the rington if your phone is not in silent mode.

It's fun in a weird way, although some times it can get pretty frustrating :D

Anyway I'll try to get an update up soon.

You should definitely upgrade to flb-8a...5a is older without many of the fixes, the newest release is naturaly the proper one...

I'm just a bit nervous because 5a is working perfectly for me... and there seem to be a few issues with 8a? Like contacts not showing up and Listen not downloading and things?

Are there any new features or speed improvements I'd notice?

Thanks! :D

I don't really want to have to change several hundred numbers though.. and then have them not work when I'm abroad..

Usuall rule of thumb, if it works don't change it...

For answeres to your questions read through the thread....

use some comon sence :) just add the number "07" to the particular contact, not to several hundred :D ....sorry if you're only 12 :)

Or just save the contacts to sd card, open in something like excel and do a find/replace on all the numbers in one go.

Have not attempted this myself, but I am sure its as simple as that.

Then just import again.

Edit: I just opened the contacts .vcf file using Notepad++ and it was pretty simple to do a find replace on numbers beginning ' TEL;CELL;PREF:07 ' there's your solution.
