Guest Baltar Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'm trying this Rom, so far so good :D Only a strange thing happened. I installed adlauncher pro, this morning when I "woke up" the phone, the taskbar icons (phone, contacts, programs, sms, browser) disappeared, there were only "X" in it, when I clicked one, it give the a menu to choose an action. I did a restart and everything went fine again. However I have a doubt, in JJ9 I could access sim card contacts without having to import them, as also I could add contacts to sim card too. I was searching that option in FLB and couldn't find, isn't possible or do I have to install another app? Thanks in advance.
Guest aaroncarey Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Usuall rule of thumb, if it works don't change it... For answeres to your questions read through the thread.... use some comon sence :) just add the number "07" to the particular contact, not to several hundred :D ....sorry if you're only 12 :D Thanks for your help, I was just after a bit of a summary really, seem like I'll stick with 5a for now :) What I meant was.. I didn't want to have to edit several hundred contacts either by changing or adding new numbers to them, it'd take quite a while, thanks though.
Guest aaroncarey Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Or just save the contacts to sd card, open in something like excel and do a find/replace on all the numbers in one go. Have not attempted this myself, but I am sure its as simple as that. Then just import again. Edit: I just opened the contacts .vcf file using Notepad++ and it was pretty simple to do a find replace on numbers beginning ' TEL;CELL;PREF:07 ' there's your solution. Thank you :D that's useful, is it possible to do a quick 'add' for the numbers? So that I have both the 07 and +44 versions saved to the contact?
Guest DrEzkimo Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 so the only genuine issue with the rom is the wifi dropping issue? pretty amazing considering how its a user compile and unofficial :D wifi drop is only a pain when im listening to the radio at night, considering the overall quality I can live with it :D
Guest Rotmann Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 The Radio on Wi-Fi will play because the phone won't sleep. But if you put your phone to sleep with wi-fi on and no app to keep it awake, it may go to sleep and wi-fi will drop (there are apps to keep it awake only for wi-fi) like Blade Wi-Fi fix and so on. I can confirm I have no issue whatsoever mentioned here with contacts or signal. I don't use Google Listen though, can't say anything about it. For me this is the closest to perfect 2.2 ROM.

Swipe the bar to one of the sides and the "+" signs will appear again :D To change that, while on the home screen, press the menu key, then preferences, dock settings and set the number of docks to 1. You can listen to the radio and switch off the screen, it'll still play. Unless of course you're listening to a streamed radio station but as Rotmann states, the wifi should stay on if something is running (Radio), it's only when the phone goes to sleep that the wifi issue comes about.
Guest admanirv Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Is the RDS supposed to show the radio station on the FM radio? - doesnt seem to do it on mine it just has the frequency.

Guest hatsch Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 anyone can access cifs-shares with r8a? I installed R8a and even tried kernel2 which has explicit mentioned cifs, but I still cannot mount any cifs/smb-share. I tried cifs-manager als also tried it manually in the terminal-emulator: #mkdir /mnt/smb #mkdir /mnt/smb/share #mount -t cifs -o "username=xxx, password=xxx" //10.21.1.2/share /mnt/smb/share mount: no such device This is the error I always get: no such device anyone can give me a hint? anyone succeeding with using cifs-shares in r8a? thnx
Guest GTAKing99 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Does it has Overclocking? EDIT: I found it, no.. BUt will OV coming next? And will Titanium Backup work? because on the Table it says no. Edited February 16, 2011 by GTAKing99
Guest targetbsp Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 It does have overclocking if you install either of the test kernels in post 1. Titanium Backup works fine for me?

The android battery consumption thingy is not what we would call accurate, don't worry, it happens sometimes on all 2.1 and 2.2. Don't know about 2.3 though.
Guest targetbsp Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yeah. when the phone drops below about 30% it suddenly seems to realise it''s been a bit overzealous in getting there from 100 and goes really slowly from then on down. It's kinda good in a way cause it means you have more power than you counted on as a rule. :D As for the 3 hour thing, plugging into usb to transfer a file or rebooting counts I believe.
Guest Simon O Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I've released r9 of the ROM. Not as many changes as I'd have liked but a few annoying niggles have been addressed. Lock screen pattern lock has correct text Power control widget has data toggle Optimized kernel with best power/performance ratio Stock speed kernel with support for overclocking if you choose to enable it. EXT4 support A2SD updated to Darktremor Version 2.7.5.2-1 Signal strength correctly displayed Shouldn't be any loss of cell signal when using wifi. Stagefright enabled again as some games failed without it. http disabled for youtube app

Guest Davie1888 Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Thanks for this latest release, have you took the facebook app and the roboot facility off. I will miss the reboot as it saved wear and tear on the power and volume buttons
Guest ahngau Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks very much flibblesan for the great ROM! Upgraded to r9 moments ago, everything works great. 1. yeah, the power button reboot is not there in r8a and r9. 2. Facebook app is gone in r9. Haven't try to manual install yet. But I have a special situation, I usually switch off cellular but keep wifi on when I get home (don't have reception for my carrier in my flat, so the phone will roam). I did this by first enable airplane mode, then switch on wifi only. This works on JJ RLS9 but not on r8a nor r9. Does anyone knows any hack to do this on this wonderful, lightning quick rom? Thanks. Guest wbaw Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 There seems to be a small bug in the updater script for clockwork 2, I think it's missing this line package_extract_dir("data", "/data"); So the contents of the /data directory (facebook, twitter) isn't installed with clockwork 2, not sure if it works with clockwork 3

Installed with no errors
Guest wbaw Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I installed using tom g's version of cmw found on the cm6 cm7 thread. Installed with no errors Were facebook & twitter installed with the rom? It gives no errors in seb's clockwork 2, it just doesn't copy the data directory, because that line is missing from the script.
Guest m_w_clarke Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Is it possible to add our own APK files to the zip file (in the same location as the other APKs) and get them installed to the /sys area in ROM? Would that work okay?

They seem like the only two that have moved.
