Downgrading from Froyo OTA

[Guest Paul]

If (like me) you got flashed the Legend Froyo OTA and now you can't downgrade, you can do the following..

- Follow this guide to the end (the last stage will appear to have failed)

- Temproot with VISIONary r13 (install the downloaded file as per a normal APK)

- Once you are temprooted, connect via 'adb' and do 'su' (to get root) then '/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img'

You should then be able to downgrade in the normal way.

You try this at your own risk... I successfully did this on my device, but of course YMMV. :rolleyes:

I'm totally depressed since yesterday with this dirty ROM.

Does the crackin.bat works for you ?

Edit:

Crackin.bat display a lot of error but the downgrade works. You canno't know how I'm happy ....

but i´ve a question with steps.

- try downgrade

- make temproot

- make adb process

- and at last with the phone on, install the 1.31 RUU versión?

Thanks to Paul with this tutorial i´ve solved the HBOOT problem that unable install Froyo rooted for me.

This is a HOW TO that i´ve made for help all people who has this problem.

even I did not got this step....

I know this is too much...but Paul can you please make a sticky for NOOBS with all detailed instructions on downgrading Froyo for Legend?

If Paul is busy..request some other good Samaritan to do the Job...God Bless Modaco & Paul...

on cmd windows => cd.. cd.. cd.. to see c:/ , cd androidsdk/tools , start cmd, adb shell , su , accept supper user permission on the legend ,/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img on the cmd (note:préviously in the paul application you need choose"set system r/w after root" and do "temproot now" B)

no point to downgrade, it is not rooting. its like you try run new ubunu linux on old kernel or old bios what not support new features

My Legend Hast Updated to Asia 2.2 and come with HBOOT 1.001...I has successful downgrade using 1.31 RUU..

Surprising is when i downgrade to 1.31 there HBOOT still remain at 1.001

Now i become 1.001 with ROOT :( ;) ;)

For some reason it isnt working for me when I enter this in CMD:

can anyone give me idiot proof guide to this cmd line prompt stuff, press by press copy and paste style? PLEASE!!

thank - i found that but this line is probably my problem!

"...you should have root privileges now (showing #). Next thing is backing up misc partition and replacing it with one from hack4legend-v5.zip. Extract this zip somewhere and fire another command promt there. Now you should upload flash_image binary and misc1-2.img:"

fire another (i guess that means cmd again - now two black windows) but what is "fire another command prompt there" all about?

after the chmod 755 line it just repeats it but should there not be more feedback?!

where should i save the hack 4 legend file exactly?

Ok, i did it - the lack of "feedback" on the cmd is normal it seems.

Thankfully i won't have to do this again for any more phones as i can't quiet remember how i fixed it, altho i did remake the goldcard (which worked fine on two other phones).

Yes I remeber I had the same doubt because the lack of feedback in cmd, but it worked, so I didn't bother any more:). I'm glad you've succeeded.
