Audio problem

Hey guys I've got one problem with my phone and that is I can't use my own headphones (without a mic) to listen when I'm making a call or receiveing calls, has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix for this problem? I also noticed that with other phones like htc and sony erricson have this feature, also will 2.2 and 2.3 fix this for the sgs? Anyone have any ideas?
