Guest JK-FINN Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) If you open the camera app, press Menu, Settings, Picture Size.. do you get more options? Yes, the Finnish Saunalahti Blade has "5M Pixels"-option, too. I just checked with my phone. Edited November 28, 2010 by JK-FINN

Guest mannybianco Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) The OSF has among the shittiest video recording capabilities on the market today, with its CIF-resolution (354x288) at 15 FPS. We know the MSM7227 platform is capable of way more than that, with VGA (640x480) at 30 FPS, so that can't be the problem. Either it's a software issue if ZTE never implemented VGA recording for unknown reasons, or if it's the camera sensor that can't hang with anything better than CIF. Question is - Does the Saunalahti Blade suck too, in regards to video recording? If the sensor is different (5 mpix in the Saunalahti Blade vs 3.2 in the OSF) maybe the video recording capabilities could be better as well (assuming the OSF video recording is hampered by its piss poor camera sensor and not just by poor software on ZTE's part). Guest mannybianco Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Saunalahti Blade camcorder options: Video quality: ... That's all in the camcorder settings with the included camera software. Thanks for the info, mate. It seems the Finnish Blade sucks too in regards to video recording. Such a shame when all the competitors (LG Optimus One, Sony Ericsson X10 min/mini pro X8, LG GT540 and so forth) based on the MSM7227 platform does VGA at 25-30 FPS.
Guest Levanteri Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I also have a Saunalahti provided Blade. The lense cover clearly says: 5MP. I installed FLB-Froyo G2 rom, and camera is not working at all! FC every time I try to run it, so doesn't this clearly indicate, that due to different camera version and the lack of drivers the 5MP camera doesn't work with the rom containing drivers only for 3.2MP camera?

Yes the 5mp camera will not work with roms that only know about the 3mp. All the current 2.2's come from the same single original rom. Its pretty 'early'. Recent ZTE 2.1 firmware supports both cameras. (The Finnish and Hungarian ones do.) I'd be surprised if the ZTE 2.2 releases don't support both transparently. Its not clear how different the 5mp really is. The problems with the 3mp aren't about lack of pixels. More about slowness in reading out the pixels, which produces both strange bent effects if camera or subject moves during the 'exposure', and greatly limits movie quality. That and the sensor being a bit "noisy" - especially noticeable in low light (indoor) conditions.
Guest ints Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Hiya all. Just got nfo that might interest the estonians in this thread waiting for the Blade to arrive. It will be the 3Mp camera variant, no info yet as to TFT/AMOLED screen variety. So a different batch to the saunalahti one. Interesting :S We getting the leftovers from old batch? Edited December 2, 2010 by ints
Guest GraviticVortex Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Interesting, but weird. It would have been so logical if it was same as saunalahti version... Any info about dates/pricing? Edited December 2, 2010 by GraviticVortex
Guest ints Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Currently all the information i have is - within this year. No information on pricing. BUT - i think it`ll replace SE x8 on-contract option with small pay-in fee. edit: Just got an update, estonia getting the 5Mp camera and TFT version of Blade. So same as the finns. Yay, i guess :S Really wanted the AMOLED one. Edited December 2, 2010 by ints
Guest GraviticVortex Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 No surprise there, didnt really expect it to be AMOLED. TFT is fine as long as its going to be cheap enough...
Guest F-fei Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 ale_syrj says his screen is described as "TFT", therefore lcd rather than oled. the screen is "TFT" not "oled"

Guest markusj Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Does anybody know anything about the release date? Having a proper japanese Froyo would be nice.
Guest yu zhang Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I'm sure we will, but its not due to go on sale IN JAPAN until mid-December. (And there's a Chinese 2.2 due about the same time.) Meanwhile, it seems that the 5 mp camera has ALREADY appeared (with 2.1) in the Finnish market. So, Finnish friends, we need a rom dump from the original Finnish rom in order for 1/ your 5mp camera to work with other roms and 2/ the 3mp camera to work with future firmware (like the Japanese-market FroYo) intended for the 5mp camera ... I am from finland , I have this kind of rom . How can I help all of you in this kind ?
Guest JK-FINN Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I am from finland , I have this kind of rom . How can I help all of you in this kind ? That is an old post. Guest Mit321 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Just found this: http://www.totaltele.com/view.aspx?ID=461010 "ZTE develops Android smartphone with Softbank Tuesday 14 December 2010 Chinese vendor says device will launch in Japan this month." So apparently should be launched within the next 15 days?
