Guest Scaramango Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Does anyone here use SPB backup to restore data following a ROM flash ? I want to use it to take a backup of my stock i8000 before I flash the ROM for a custom version. Obviously I can't do a full backup/restore as various Windows directories and registry keys won't be present on a LITE ROM, so there will be a conflict. And my current i8000 is all clogged up anyway, hence the reason I'm flashing it ! I can make an educated guess about which parts to backup, e.g. PIM, My Storage etc... Just wondering what experience others have... B)
Guest y17dt Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Hi, only Messages, Pim and Files(MyDocs, Applicationdata) make sense. Everything else will be lost and should be reinstalled. If you make a fullbackup everything will be messed up. Regards
Guest speedfrog Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 you can also use XDA_UC if the rom has it cooked in.
Guest Scaramango Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Thanks for the advice guys. I meant to say that I purchased SPB a while back, so do want to continue using it.

Guest Scaramango Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 i allways use spb backup with new roms. with rom upgrade mode... Thanks - I just saw this ROM option for the first time (obviously, since I'd never flashed before). It's nice to know that SBP realise people are changing ROMs, and make their application fit accordingly. It all works very well. I guess one thing that would be nice is SPB backing up the messaging accounts, as I have 4 different email accounts that I have to re-create after flashing (POP3, 2xgmail & exchange).
