I'm wondering why do apps start up in the background when i've closed them ?

I just read that article and I do agree with not killing apps that you use frequently however I disagree to leave apps that you use once a week or less in memory. You need to put some thought into what you do and don't kill.

Again use can Autostarts to stop these apps re-appearing

But the essential thing here, is to use Autostarts to prevent them starting, as opposed to using ATK, because if it kills them every 5 mins (e.g.), then you're re-opening the app every 5 mins, which is going to use more battery / CPU than having them dormant in memory.

Yes that is true..address the root of the problem if you're concerned B)

Although the program won't launch every 5 minutes guaranteed...it loads when the event is triggered which could take some time.

I tend to use task killers when the phone starts because EVERY app launches on boot up. Then I use task manager to check what is running and set it off using Autostarts if I feel that it is definetly not needed.

Autostarts combined with a app killer has done the trick for me thank you all for the informed advice
