Guest rjm2k Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Excellent, I've passed this onto ZTE just in case (unlikely) it's not already been resolved in their production software.
Guest rayraven Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Worth mentioning: Sometimes your Battery Usage will say that "app X" has been using 67% battery when it hasn't, it's just a random application and aggregate statistic. What I mean by this is that once I checked the usage and it said 34% System, remaining Flikie Wallpapers. I hadn't even used Flikie since booting my phone, but had used plenty of other apps. Summary - Don't put all faith in the built-in Usage monitor. Install PowerTutor to have a REAL idea of what uses your battery. Andy The spare parts app also shows a good detailed stat view of whats eating the battery.
Guest The Soup Thief Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) The spare parts app also shows a good detailed stat view of whats eating the battery. So as AndyHibberd's saying, the "dialler issue" appears to have been in the eye of the beholder (or at least has depended on the app you're using to measure it) Personally I wasn't struck by any big slump in battery life when I installed this ROM, and correspondingly haven't seen any big increase now that I've twiddled the dialler fix (having said that, I've only gone from 90% at 9pm last night to 49% now - nearly 16 hours later, which is pretty good, so maybe there is a bit of an improvement, but I wouldn't swear to it) A bunch of posters were reporting catastrophic battery performance under FLB Froyo Beta. Can any of them get back to us to comment on any changes they've seen with this workaround? Thanks Edited November 24, 2010 by The Soup Thief
Guest Azurren Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Had this turned off as soon as I installed Froyo B) No wonder I was banging on about Froyo battery life being good :)
Guest Aranathos Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Can any of them get back to us to comment on any changes they've seen with this workaround? Thanks Before this fix if I left the phone sleeping overnight, the battery would drop 15-20%. This morning it had only fallen 4%.

Same here. Incorporated the fix yesterday. Phone was unplugged at 7:30am this morning and by now (7 hours later) I would have seen around a 20-30% drop. Today I'm seeing a 11% drop ;) Of corse, as discussed, this is perhaps much in the eye of the beholder and it's hard to replicate phone use day to day, but so far I'm quietly pleased.
Guest ballist1x Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 i take it your not using the phone during those 7 hours? ive roughly worked out that every minute of youtube video over 3g costs 1% battery (just under 1% actually) 5 mins of browsing the web drops u by at least 2% also. am i the only one seeing this kind of battery drain or what? my phone has a total time since boot (where it was virtually 100% battery) of 4h42mins and im at 33% battery with various youtube (possibly 20mins ) 2 calls, texting and some web browsing too.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Yes. I find that if I am watching youtube I can see my battery drain. This is because it's 3G AND video processing, potentially with speaker. I don't think it's even possible to use more battery in one instance. If I leave my phone on lock then I get about 1% per hour (Potentially more if I turn off 3G or the syncing).
Guest rishie Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I was on a call and after the call terminated (after about 20 min) I could see the dialer was using about 50%, and android system using about 45% of the battery (in the battery usage). I went ahead looked at the battery stats, and observed that the sensor was using this most of the time. Then I disabled screen Auto-rotate in display settings and till now, the andriod system uses only 5% of the battery since last night, 10:00PM, thats around 10 hours. Guest dr_AllCOM3 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I don't have that option in my rom?
Guest droidvirgin Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I cant see the turn to mute option. There is the "Silent mode option is this what you mean?
Guest Lew247 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 The option has been removed from some roms fixing the problem before it started so you dont have to worry
Guest rishie Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I had turned off the sensors (both for dialer and auto-rotate screen) and the battery usage is much better now, except when during the call, If I had a conversation for about 10 min, 10% of battery is gone, and battery usage shows dialer using highest Cpu (more than 85% all the time). I was going through the cyanogen's changelist, and found an option "Always use Proximity" which, if disabled, will not use the proximity sensor during the call (atleast that's what I understood from the below thread). http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/2657-pr...-fully-in-call/ Can someone compile the phone.apk for sanfrancisco, so that we can disable the proximity sensor during the call. I tried pushing the Phone.apk to my OSF, but it just force closes whenever I try placing a call (btw, I am using dialer one as the dialer) I am currently using fat FLB r3a.
