Can I just quickly ask - do the higher scores for Froyo mean that the phone is working harder, or the upgraded ROMs are just more efficient?

Of course I know overclocking makes the phone work harder.

No the phone isnt any harder, per se, the JIT added as part of froyo by Google makes it about 2x-5x faster.

i ask because i had a HTC Magic before (with 2.2 CM6) and now the Blade with 2.1 r4 and the Quadrant Score is nearly identical to lower, but the phone feels 10 times faster.

So for me Quadrant seems pretty far away from reality

Well, i dont feel the the same increase in snappiness as shown in Quadrant [it's almost 3x improvement there]

But, yes, overall the phone is much more snappier.

One simple thing is the gallery, i have about 200 photos on my sd card, and the gallery on opening would take quite a few seconds to start up on 2.1

With 2.2, it's always instant.

With launcherpro as the default home, it's as snappy and smooth as android can be, if you ask me.

Why on earth do I only get around 440 on Quadrant, I'm also on fbl froyo 3 (lite, zte dialer)?? Same neocore though.. Could there be a particular modification or setting that may cause this huge difference for me? Guess I'll reflash and try again.

Ok problem solved, it was because I had done the YouTube hq fix (disabling stagefright player). Now reverted and scores 980!! Wierd though, no noticable difference I have to say.

It's very good. Room for improvement but once it's out of alpha status it'll be fantastic!

bloody good scores on quadrant for the spec of the phone, i get around 1695 on my Desire but thats overclocked. Without the OC i get around 1200-1250.

Try running RCMixHD rom on your Desire with richardtrips overclock kernel. I used to get around 1900.

34.9 FPS on Neocore.

Quadrant scores on 2.1 seem to be about half that of scores on 2.2, is 2.2 really that much faster than 2.1?
