Warning, White Dell Streak is DIFFERENT

Noob here..

I just got the white streak from Best Buy and would love to get to 2.2 but haven't done anything with Android as far as rooting goes. I have done on WM6 and 6.5 before.

Should I wait for AT&T or try Steve's 2.2 or 2.1? BTW..I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64bit.

Can someone spell out everything I would have to do to try to go to 2.2 in step by step order? Am I missing a guide somewhere?
