Guest marind Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 I really like the small notification bar, much better.
Guest landofhopeandglory Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Paul, I have 3 advents, have had them 3 weeks and still failed to flash your ROM. I have lost all my hair and many of my teeth trying.Whilst I continue to try it dawned on me how clever you are and what a great service to so many you are providing (I can tell this from feedback). So, with that in mind, I have just upgraded my account and paid the princely sum of 9.99 as I can testify you must be worth every penny as I continue to find the whole thing mind blowing. I have however, baked a cake in your kitchen and dragged the file to my desktop.I have also extracted the USB zip file from the above, unzipped it and dragged that file also to my desktop. I will now have a cup of tea and a headache pill whilst I once again contemplate another evening of attempted flashing!

Perhaps if you tell us what operating system the machine you are trying to flash from has installed, whether you've followed the instructions and where it is that things seem to go awry. Perhaps from this we can help you. If anything the quality of your post will encourage the support that this forum is known for.

If your using Windows 7 you don't need to open the command prompt and type in code. Simply double click adb-windows.exe, allow to run. You might get a quick window pop up, that's normal. Then double click install-windows.bat, this will open up command window, the program will run, the vega will restart. should be done. Disclaimer* I'm no computer expert, the above steps are what I do and it works for me every time.

Guest T4ylor Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Don't forget you can also flash this via ClockworkMod! P If I am honest I still dont really understand what that is although i would like too at some point.
Guest worto03 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 If I am honest I still dont really understand what that is although i would like too at some point. lol - me neither but I'm holding off asking too many questions until I've stumped up the 9.99 :)
Guest T4ylor Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 lol - me neither but I'm holding off asking too many questions until I've stumped up the 9.99 :) I came in to this Android scene without a clue because all I have really known is was ever Apple release. I not ever remember learning so much in short amount of time infact my head is beginning to hurt just thinking about what information its absorbed over the last 3 or 4 week. May need to sit down a minute now lol
Guest sybercottage Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hi New to the forum and waiting for my Vega to arrive. Arrived at this site after a search on the internet and ways to improve the vega experiance. Not being to technical and someone who struggles with all things technical (it's my age)! Is there a YouTube vid of the installation? Best wishes Alan :)
Guest jamin101 Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 How can you get back to clockwork recovery once you have updated to 1.06.5 as there is no connection to market and the vega recovery app is there. Am I missing something? Cheers J
Guest toibs Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 "If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)" How can i tell which one is my Vega? They are all listed similarly!! Paul
Guest warriorscot Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) I'm having issues with the small notification bar release. Its installing fine and all the packages mover over across however my notification bar is still the same vanilla bar its always had I have tried it in windows and Linux VM and still its a no go. On the plus side I did finally manage to get adb running so its not all bad however I would quite like to try out the small menu bar, its not a huge deal as I tend to hide it most of the time in launcher pro but I would like to give it a try see if I like it. I get an error at the end in windows about the package manager not working and asking me if it is running but none of that in Linux however on both I get an error:rm failed about a path not existing for two separate paths at the start and the rest proceeds as it should. Other than that everything looks good from my PC and on the Vega. Also superuser seems to be broken as well. I don't get any popup when I try to open root explorer after install so I can remap my volume buttons again. Nevermind got it working, baked a rom with performance pack rather than used the pre-bakes and it seems to have worked so far. Might want to check the prebake with the small bar. Guest gingercat Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) Hmmm, my r5 install doesn't seem to have installed flash support. Tried flashing again (using clockworkmod), but no change. Any ideas? P.s. was a custom bake Edited December 15, 2010 by gingercat
Guest greenie-uk Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 So. Would I need to do a clean 1.06.5 install then do r5. Or can I update straight from r4?
Guest gingercat Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 So. Would I need to do a clean 1.06.5 install then do r5. Or can I update straight from r4? If you haven't previously installed 1.06.5, you'll need to stick that on first. My latest strange thing is that e.g. Adfree can't get root access :)

Guest r8zer Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Damn. Will it wipe everything? Only got it yesterday took all day sorting apps/bookmarks etc out yes it will, do a backup, or use titanium backup from market.

Any ideas Paul? I just keep the flash apk handy from the bottom of this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...r-for-the-vega/ Works well for me and is a bit newer than the standard version
Guest r8zer Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 having issues with root, titanium backup on r5 is not playing ball, keeps saying cannot gain root access.
