Guest tylordurton Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 OK, think i've found the issue. Do this: adb remount && adb shell ln -s /sbin/busybox /system/bin/busybox && adb shell chmod 0755 /system/bin/* && adb shell chmod 4755 /system/xbin/su && adb reboot That should fix it. This will only affect Windows users. P Not sure what to do now, tried to update to r6 and now looks like my vega is goosed! blac screen after error message saying not responding, what or how do I use the above code to fix this?
Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Hhhmm, tried the fix code you quoted and got link failed File exists Unable to chmod /system/bin/busybox: Read-only file system Did I miss something out? Baking a rom from the kitchen now will try that instead. Thanks for the efforts Paul, making my birthday present a lot more interesting! :( Sounds like you somehow missed out the 'adb remount' bit? P

Guest Pyr0x64 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) tried the fix you posted but i get: remount succeeded link failed File exists Unable to chmod /system/bin/busybox: Read-only file system then the vega reboots and i get the same: "Sorry! Process system is not responding" [edit] i should add that i installed using the updated r6 and still have the same problem Edited December 29, 2010 by Pyr0x64

Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Paul do you have to go back to stock rom to run this? No, you should be able to run it over the top. P
Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Breaking out my Windows machine now to see if I can replicate the problem...! P
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 the updated r6 still gives me the same error
Guest zzleezz Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Rebaked another rom after you fixed the kitchen. Trying to apply that one but the install has hung on the first line pkg: /data/local/tmp/libflashplayer_froyo-gles2 etc etc
Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I've temporarily taken the ROM offline while I investigate the issue. P
Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 My device is now in the same state (after updating via Windows) P
Guest griff_dai Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Cheers I will wait to windows users have reported no problems

Guest thinksmart99 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) Many thanks Paul! Do I need to back up my apps before installing this over R5 (ie will they be gone if I don't)? Can you suggest a good tool for this(is titanium the best?)? BTW Got home today and did a direct comparison of the Vega to my iPad. No contest, with your ROM the Vega wins on speed not to mention on functionality! Brilliant job. Really. Best B :( Edited December 29, 2010 by thinksmart99
Guest Paul Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 OK, for those who have ADB and are in the 'black screen' state, try this: adb remount && adb shell rm /system/bin/busybox && adb shell ln -s /sbin/busybox /system/bin/busybox && adb shell /sbin/busybox chmod 0755 /system/bin/* && adb reboot P
Guest Higgsy Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Kitchen unavailable? :( - to be expected with most peoples browsers on autorefresh waiting for R6 lol
Guest tylordurton Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Cheers I will wait to windows users have reported no problems Looking forward to an update as I dont seem to be able to reinstall the .065 .exe from advent as just getting an error saying "USN device not found" - guessing this is because I updated the driver before installing Paul's mod?
