For Windows users who flashed r6 and have the 'black screen' problem, do the following:

  • Ensure the Vega is connected to your PC
  • Open a command prompt
  • Change directory to where you extracted r6
  • Type 'adb remount && adb shell rm /system/bin/busybox && adb shell ln -s /sbin/busybox /system/bin/busybox && adb shell /sbin/busybox chmod 0755 /system/bin/* && adb reboot'
  • Done!

Did you wipe after installing r6? It's installed to /data, so if you do, you won't see it!

OK, think i've found the issue.

Do this:

adb remount && adb shell ln -s /sbin/busybox /system/bin/busybox && adb shell chmod 0755 /system/bin/* && adb shell chmod 4755 /system/xbin/su && adb reboot

That should fix it.

This will only affect Windows users.

I have the same problem Win 7 32bit.

I have no idea where to put that code. Could you please explain for us nubes. I've tried reflashing to latest myadventvega os. No problem.

Then I've tried to install ROM (all options except zip and signed) There is an error in first RM command (dir does not exist) and the same error reappears at the end of the script just before reboot.

Reboot results in 'Process system is not responding and it is locked.

I don't even want USB host that much <Sob>.

Thanks Paul.

Did you try re-downloading since I put the links back up since you're reflashing the Vega ROM anyway?

See this post where I posted step-by-step deets.

Just installed via ClockWorkMod - all went well but now trying out the usb mode switcher and it seems to get stuck... saying 'Switching USBA mode Your device will reboot shortly' etc. Its been 5 mins now so I am guessing this is not right :(

Any thoughts? Could just bake a new rom and try again?

Thanks again Paul for the work on the custom roms - enjoying the Vega very much now!

Same here. Fixed broken rom with the adb script (too impatient to wait for kitchen to come back up ;) )

USB switcher not working for me. Might rebake to see if that was the problem.

Strange, I get the same behaviour. If i reinstall the APK however (from here), it works!

I'll look into that.

Um I can't get it switch to USB Host/Slave now it just hangs up without rebooting and no prompt for Super User access.

Edit I see what needs to be done and working now.

paul, could you perhaps look into the music-jumping glitch?

I am also having this issue too. No reboot just a spinning wheel in the upper right hand corner. The "back" button does, however, respond and takes me back to the USB Mode menu. I get the same effect from both options, is that normal? It doesn't seem to check to see which mode is active.

BTW the update ran on XP without a hitch.

* r6 - default options, performance pack excluded - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 5f9d526822247ce616f6e777454e585a

* r6 - default options, small notifcation bar, performance pack excluded - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 320fbef176de65b328de3182f43536c7

Just for clarity are both new downloads excluding performance pack or is that a typo? :(

Another small issue with the r6 release is that the street view in Google Maps no longer rotates ? Works fine on the main maps and can do the nifty new 3d views etc. fine just no rotation at all on street view ?

can someone help please just downloaded version 1.06.5 from the advent site and got that working on my advent venga however now just downloaded the kitchen r5 after paying a tenner on the advice of others however when following the directions me being a complete virgin at this kinda thing

If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)

when i look for this usb drive on my device manager i only find

Nvidia android composite device and that appears to be upto date with the version im trying to update to top it off when i install the driver as directed

# Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and extract on your Windows PC, Linux PC or Mac

# Connect your device to your PC

# At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows.bat', './install-linux.sh' or './install-mac.sh' as appropriate

# Wait for your device to reboot! smile.gif

whe i run install-windows.bat it just stay black and nothing comes up however the last time i did it it came up saying it was running but stays like that forever and the tablet doesnt seem to respond could anyone please help as at the moment its like a doorstop and no use to me lol

Many thanks

Afie
