Guest Paul Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 If you're having trouble getting into ADB mode after the 1.04 update, check out this topic. P
Guest JohnMetz Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Some progress ... I downloaded a version of r2 from the kitchen (stock settings without the performance pack) and ran install-windows. Things went well until near the end - see below: push: files/system/xbin/su -> /system/xbin/su push: files/system/build.prop -> /system/build.prop 47 files pushed. 0 files skipped. 1231 KB/s (0 bytes in 18179381.014s) Setting permissions Error: Could not access the Package Manager. Is the system running? Done, rebooting C:\Advent vega\251110-1640-r2-vega-modacocustomromaddon-unsigned-MD5-1e1f91334a9 5f1fed539ca7ef40476a4>[/codebox] However, the vega did re-boot this time and it appears to work. I am still a little concerned that it did not finish the final setting permissions or later steps. Should I try again? BTW I still do not see any ADB in device manager. John
Guest Paul Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Don't worry about that too much, i'll fix that now for future downloads. P
Guest Paul Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Updated the Performance Pack script to fix flashing via Windows. P

Guest Pyr0x64 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Could you see the ADB in Device Manager then? yup
Guest unclebob31 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 yup Solved it its the way microsft handles usb devices. Extract Pauls USB driver Install the usb driver by clicking on the usb connected icon in the system tray with the device connected. The installation will install more than one android device Then Run CMD Cd to directory you downloaded his update to Run install-windows.bat Volia. Any questions ask me. Have to have tea now! Thanks Paul excellent work
Guest captainsensible Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Hmmm, I can't even see Android Phone in device manager!
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Hmmm, I can't even see Android Phone in device manager! if you have no driver installed for it, it should show under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"

Thanks Paul excellent work hi can somebody give me an idiot guide to what to type in the command prompt please, I have the adb installed and it shows up in the device manager as above, the update folder is placed on the windows xp desktop, every time i type in install-windows.bat i get =: install-windows.bat is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I know I'm doing something really obviously wrong but i dont use command prompts very often, thanks in advance...

Guest unclebob31 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 if you have no driver installed for it, it should show under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" Set device to debug Connect the device Microsoft will load its generic usb storage driver Bottom left hand side in the system tray open the USB connection icon by double clicking on it Select USB Mass Storage Device Right Click on it Choose Driver Tab Select Update Drivers Select No not this time click Next Select Install from Specific Location Choose Directory you unzipped Pauls USB driver too Install all drivers when prompted It will do at least two the second being the Composite Driver Once finished Start Run CMD Then in the MSDOS window CD to Pauls update then run install-windows.bat Volia It is simply microsoft selecting the wrong driver for you. Good luck :P
Guest aidyb Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 i just right clicked the bat file and ran as admin LOL, i'm sure :P I dont get that option mate, im using xp, i did this with my desire using windows 7 and i had the option but not on here....

Extract the update in a folder called Advent eg C:\Advent Start ===> Run ====> CMD When you open the MSDOS box the commands would be cd Advent install-windows.bat If the USB driver is installed and the device is in debug mode then all will be well. Good luck

Guest TylerDurdenK Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Device is definitely in USB debugging mode as I can see the "beatle" in the status bar. I've also replaced the USB driver with the one supplied in the .zip file. In Windows Device manager, under USB controllers I see: Android Debug Bridge Interface USB Composite Device USB Mass Storage Device USB Root Hub When I start "install-windows.bat" from a command shell (same folder as the scripts), I get the following: * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 * * daemon start successfully * And then nothing. I appears that it's waiting for the Vega to respond indefinitely. I also had this, and put it down to not having properly installed the supplied drivers. I fixed it by going into the usbdriver folder and extracting the r1-tegrausbdrivers-modaco.zip file. Then updating the ADB Driver within Computer Manager. Hope this helps someone.
Guest unclebob31 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 i don't mount mine as a USB Mass Storage Device Nope you don't Did not say you did! Microsoft disagrees with that. It assumes that it is storage (don't ask me why ask Bill!) Thats why you have to change things through the USB connection icon and select USB Mass Storage Device B***dy Microsoft never works just as you thought it should. Good luck
Guest 5c00ter Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Ok. Getting somewhere. Finally got r2 custom rom installed on 1.04 image. (ripped out everything and started again). However, the BBC iplayer fails, no flash support. I tried the following after installing r2: adb-windows shell pm install -r system/etc/shuttle_priv/libflashplayer_froyo_gles2_20101019_v10.1.95.18_signed.apk but I got the error: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE] This is after a clean re-image to 1.04 with r2 custom rom installed.
