Guest MonkeyBoy451 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 ...looks nice, thanks for the link ;) I'm trying out that keyboard at the moment to see what its like.
Guest marmankites Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 I've not had the same problem as you and have tried a couple of other keyboards and think Smart Keyboard Pro to be really good on the Vega Mainly because its very custom-able - non full screen (in any orientation) once I adjusted the hight of the keys, I can type with pretty good speeds ;) How do you change the height please
Guest debs626 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 How do you change the height please Select:- menu - settings - Language & keyboard settings - Smart Keyboard pro settings - General settings - Key hight (right at the bottom of the list) You need to slide the slider to the right to make the height of the keys higher ;) HTH

Guest debs626 Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but thought i would share an alternative input method that is pretty neet. Will be quite valuble to anyone else that needs/wants to do alot of typing on their Vega. The app is called WiFi Keyboard (free on the market) Once setup and selected as an input method on your Vega you can use your PC/Laptop keyboard as an input device ;) You also need to point your browser (on pc/laptop) to http//:192.168.0.4:0000) Edit ... your ip will be different to this http://www.appbrain.com/app/wifi-keyboard/com.volosyukivan only one downside I can see atm is no spell-checker "/ Edited December 5, 2010 by debs626
Guest arad85 Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 You also need to point your browser (on pc/laptop) to http//:192.168.0.4:7777) Or whatever IP address has been assigned to your tablet ;)
Guest debs626 Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Or whatever IP address has been assigned to your tablet ;) Opps .... yes I discovered this after thinking about it for a moment lol doh
Guest dazzawright Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Has anyone else tried the gingerbread keyboard? I am finding it so much more accurate than the froyo keyboard.
Guest MonkeyBoy451 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Has anyone else tried the gingerbread keyboard? I am finding it so much more accurate than the froyo keyboard. is there an APK to install it from?
Guest dazzawright Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 is there an APK to install it from? Not yet, it has to be flashed from recovery.
Guest Bisto321 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Not yet, it has to be flashed from recovery. If you are feeling up to a bit of root exploring you could try this. I have this installed on my Tab - I know it has been used on other devices, so may be worth a go for you guys. It has some nice edit and auto-complete features and I think the colour scheme is much better. Have a read of this XDA thread if you would like to try it and don't forget to make backups of the files if they already exist on the Vega. Don't use the update zip, just do the copy and paste from the zip file as mentioned. Others have used the clockworkmod to flash the update, but I would wait for Paul to have a look before you do anything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864033 UPDATE - Have just seen that one of you has already flashed via clockwork so you are set either way. Thread below http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...tures-revealed/ Getting to Gingerbread 1 apk and 1 library at a time ;) Edited December 8, 2010 by Bisto321
Guest surly cat Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) SlideIT on Advent Vega Tablet I found this brief video (it's not mine) on YouTube and thought it worth sharing to give people an idea of what it's like using SlideIT on the Vega. UPDATE -- the video is of a much older version of SlideIT (looks like 2.1). The latest release (currently 4.0.1) is such a massive improvement (with a smaller keyboard and long-press numbers) that it's finally a Swype beater. Edited August 28, 2011 by surly cat
Guest celyn Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 The new swiftkey for tablets looks nice. http://www.talkandroid.com/29153-swiftkey-...ape-mode-video/
Guest MaxiP Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 The new swiftkey for tablets looks nice. http://www.talkandroid.com/29153-swiftkey-...ape-mode-video/ Hmmm - I use SwiftKey on my phone and love it but the layout was never suited to the Vega. Can't wait to see what this one looks / feels like
