Guest Pia23 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) Hi, my OH is having this too... I accused him of sending secret texts during the night lol, but i decided to google the number and it brought me here. So luckily he gets to keep his family jewels :D What is WaveSecure? Would i know it was on the phone? Nothing of that name shows in the apps list. The phone is all stock, a few apps installed such as fancy widget and a couple of games. Not rooted. Guest Yuccaman Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Wave Secure is a McAfee Security product which I *assume* would be in the apps list. With my SF, i was sending the texts both on the Orange Stock ROM and after upgrading to 2.2 via FLB's Rom. As the upgrade requires a full wipe, I can't see any app surviving that. I reckon its some form of weird issue with something not registering properly when the SIM is first used and that causes the SIM to carry on trying each time any phone its put into is started. I'm in a crap area for Orange signal which is why I thought I may have suffered originally. Still, the Orange SIM is now in a drawer in case I have to put it back in the phone to return it if it develops a fault...
Guest chasf42 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I fixed this problem by deleting messages from Orange. I had noticed the text was sent every time I switched the mobile on and appeared as a message in the Orange dialogue with subject Yes. Deleted all the messages received from Orange and have not seen it again.
Guest chasf42 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I fixed this by deleting messages from Orange, some sort of status update glitch. Have a look in your messages list, probably see one with the time as shown in your usage history being sent to Orange. Delete the messages, restart and hopefully you won't see it again.
Guest glossywhite Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 As a Windows/GNU+Linux/Mac IT technician & programmer with MANY IT technician contacts in the Windows, GNU+Linux & Mac communities, I can tell you this much; ANYTHING which contains the word "McAfee" in the title, is instantly dismissed as insufferable, in the same vein as Norton Antivirus. Aside from that point, anything which doesn't allow you to inspect its' source code is a security/privacy risk, and when it comes to dubious software, I'll be more than willing to put McAfee products right at the top of my "Laugh, and then uninstall" blacklist. Period. I'm not saying it IS Wave(in)Secure, but I'm saying there is a strong probability that the dubious texts are related to it. Shun me if you will, no problem! :)
Guest MDCFan Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Root, wipe and install some ROM. Should get rid of everything. If the problem persists, bug Orange :)
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Root, wipe and install some ROM. Should get rid of everything. If the problem persists, bug Orange :) If you had read a couple of posts up youvwoyld have noticed that its thevorange similar doing thieving any old phone. And the texts aren't sent using a different simbin the blade. Anyhow, I do not think I have this issue anymore - ill hope they fixed it. Interestingly, I haven't had any messages from orange on my phone for a while either..
