Maybe stupid question, but what is "prebake"?

You can "bake" your own rom using the online kitchen or download the prebaked version. You cannot decide which apps etc are included in the prebake. And to use the online kitchen you need to donate.

You could also just open it with winrar/zip and delete the stuff you don't want.

It's just a pre-configured rom non-subscribers can download. Subscribers get to pick options they want in the rom in something called a 'kitchen' and then the web server makes ('bakes') them a custom rom to download. None subscribers just get to download one with preset options that's called a 'pre-bake'.

The ZTE Joe is a different device. If you flash any of the ROMs for the ZTE Blade then you are going to have issues.

There is definitely an issue with this in JapJelly... However I have found out on JapJelly how to sort this problem out only half an hour ago.

You may have a problem after this but I will deal with that after.

Go to apps, click on contacts, click on menu, then click on import/export, then click on import from sim card. Then when it’s read the sim, click on menu key and then click on import all!.

That's the only way I can get the contacts to appear in the native dialer and then the Dialer one.

Now if you are dealing with dialer one - when the contact list appears, you will probably find replications of your contact list. In my case it repeated each name 4 times. This makes sense, cause I was trying to get the contacts list imported on the phone pad that comes with Jellyfish. (3 times that way before the 4th time by the contacts app)

You can press on the contact list again in Dialer one and it will show you each name only once. However you will always have to keep on doing this as the Dialer one when you use it will keep on showing the multiple names if that makes sense.

The only way I can figure this out is by wiping all the date and reinstalling your rom again and going through the contacts app only and import the contacts once only for it to appear once on dialer one.. Which is a pain, but that is the only way to do it. Is by using the contact apps to get your contact list to appear.

If anyone knows how to remove the names that repeat itself would be appreciated... Hope this helps and makes sense?

Go to your google acount on your pc, then click on mail. When I had this issue I had all the contact names once under the contacts but also had them all down 3 times under OTHER. Other is down the left hand side under contacts. I deleted all those under other and then there were only 2 of each on the phone. 1 lot from google account and 1 from the sim card. I deleted the contacts on the sim to get only 1 copy of each contact. If you have to wipe the phone or install a new rom then just add your google account in contacts and turn sync on and you will have all your contacts back. You can backup your contacts to the SD card as a backup just in case. Hope you understand what I'm on about. not the best at explaining stuff. :P

First post, had my Orange SF almost since launch and have just installed the r12 prebake, my first dabbling with a new rom.

I have read a huge swathe of this thread over the months, but could someone please answer me this.

With r12 prebake, I can't find an icon to the android marketplace on my screen, or in the app drawer. Am I being dense?

SOLVED: the market appeared after a reinstall. Thanks to Paul, all contributors, and S.Harper for his installation walk through.

One tiny little thing that could be tweaked for the next release: When I have the phone in Airplane mode, the lockscreen says "No SIM card. Please insert a SIM card." I'm used to other ROMs more accurately saying "Airplane mode."

Another tiny little rewording I would suggest is changing "WLAN" stuff in the settings to say "Wifi", since it's the phrase most people are more familiar with.

Hi Rottman,

Thx for your reply, but does this mean that outside a rom flash it isn't possible to install a2sd which may use my ext 512MB and i can only use Move2sd enabler which seems to be a "super app2sd"?

thanks in advance

ju

You can install a2sd if you don't have it (FLB Froyo has it enabled) but I've had only negative experiences with ext2 partitions and a2sd (partition got corrupted once in 2-4 weeks, lost all content, boot loops and so on) so I gave up and used move2sd enabler on auto, worked like a charm. Do not move widgets, keyboards or live wallpapers on the SD though.

You are focked, the ZTE Joe has different hardware. You will have to recover your device, I think Sebastia404 did somekind of recovery for the Joe, search this forum for ZTE Joe.

Activate the keyboard in settings and hold your finger in a text input box, you will see a menu there.

Don't have R12 but it is called Market. Look for it with your eyes :P in the app drawer.

Hi,

Ok, thanks for explanations and advices i'll give a shot to move2sd, i'll first have to format my sd 'cause since the flash i've lost about 200MB (1,40GB FAT32+488MB ext and after flash 1,40GB+217MB...?...) but it seems that apps are installed on SD (1,13GB >> Angry Birds' install >> 1,11GB) but i haven't yet install move2sd.

About r12 not that i'm disappointed but gains aren't that obvious compared to a 2.1 swedish snow..LiveWP is frozen when coming out of screen off, app drawer is erratic, when i'll have correct the mess on the SD maybe it'll be better..

I've looked too after Market at "M" apps in the drawer, but it's named "Android Market"...so at the top..! :D

Thx again.

Back with my Google talk prob.. Upon getting up today google talk was still working. I'm determined to get to the bottom of what is killing it so tried a few things.

Had the 2 phones here both working, dialed a number off mine and rang it then hung up. Google talk now doesn't work any more. Nothing will bring it back alive except a power down.

Dialed a number off the wifes phone the same as I did with mine and her talk is still working at mo.. wtf... both on identical roms..

edit.. just restarted mine and now the phone call doesn't break it. The wifes has now stopped working on it's own without doing anything more to it. Completely lost now, can't replicate problem consistently.

Hey, r12 is awesome and feels much faster but for some reason I scored actually less in r12 then I scored in the prebake r7. In Quadrant Standard

._. Just saying. And if you guys known any roms that are really fast and scores like 1000+ on quadrant standard please let me know, and my highest I scored with r7 was about 998 I think.

I have the same problem, r12 gives me only 700.

I have the same problem, r12 gives me only 700.

Quadrant benchmark is not a good method for determining the actual speed of any particular ROM. If StageFright is enabled then any Quadrant score will be artificially high, due to the video tests incorrectly completing in 0 seconds.

There are no major speed bottlenecks in this ROM, so just use it and be happy, and stop looking at Quadrant scores.

Just received and immediatly installed this ROM. Need a bit of help bypassing Exchange PIN lock settings though.

If i download one of the email APK's from the link below, and cook it into this ROM, (and untick the email option in the Kitchen), should this allow me to bypass the PIN lock as required?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729753

My apologies, but can only find this under the Evo 4G forum. Very new to Android, so don't want to goose the phone i've just bought.

Thanks in advance...

**EDIT**

Scratch that - Got it working, so now have full email / contacts / calendar syncing, WITHOUT PIN lock :D

I can set usual left to right slide / connect the dots.

Another excellent release - no problems so far.

Can I put in a request for a TPT version please? I've got another blade that won't boot into recovery so TPT is the only method I can use on that phone and the roms are limited.
