Guest PReDiToR Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 also I hate to use the 3 home, menu, and back buttons on my Sanfran too often for the same reason and do wish these could be incorporated in a launcher as a soft press. somewhere I read that these are provided 'on screen' on the Nexus One, but I can't afford one ! I use Button Savior, which apart from the horrendous spelling is a very useful app.
Guest kovacsgergely83 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Stock ZTE FM radio kernel level workaround (not the silent-mp3-in-the-background kind) First of, thanks Paul for your amazing work you do with MCR ROMs, have been using them since the 1st day I bought my San Francisco. I've recently installed the MCR Froyo R12, and have a problem with the MUIU based FM radio that was modified by Andorko for the Blade. When listening it and some notification sound plays (like for incoming text messages or e-mails) the MUIU based FM radio just mutes and won't come back after the notification, only if you change the volume in the app or restart it completely. I found it a bit annoying so I started to look for a solution, and two things turned out: - Andorko knows about this, and is listed as a bug even in the recent 0.5 versions - The more interesting thing is that kallt_kaffe has managed to bring back the stock ZTE FM radio app to live with some kernel level modifications detailed here: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/327...0/#entry1567478. I'm not that into kernel compiling and couldn't even find your MCK 1.1 kernel available to download, so that I could dig myself into it. But I think you should consider trying the above "hack", and include it into your next release if it works. Thank you again for your work, hope I could contribute a bit to it sharing the above. And sorry for the huge red headline - just wanted it to be noticed.

That's fine as long as you don't mind appearing 8 years old. :D Is your post more important than everyone else or should everyone start writing like that just for attention ? Guest reldavidson Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Works fine here. after keeping power button pressed, a menu appears for me to choose between boot-loader, reboot or reboot to recovery. hmm, strange, when i select reboot from the power button screen the options pop up but behind the menu and i am unable to select anything and ahve to take the battery out. It quite a new rom and havent installed much on it yet. The airplane mode, power off selections do work fine though.

Guest carkev Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Can anyone tell me how to save contacts to SIM on this ROM? They seem to save only in phone with google account. I have the same issue ... I was about to suggest trying the 'Sim Toolkit' that is included in the kitchen at the start of the rom but when I did include it in a new bake I could not find it anywhere on my phone ! ... and neither was the A2SD+ I fancied nothing of either name shows in the zip either so far I have found the rom & kitchen flawless and cannot understand why they don't show ... can anyone explain this ?

Sim toolkit is stk.apk, it only shows in your app drawer if your sim supports it.

Guest Enigmat Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 hi! to all... as you all can see i´m new here and i´ve got a zte blade and i need some help from does who have mores experience in this field than i. - what is the best rom for my Blade, more quick and that consumes less battery ... there are so many.... i´ve got crossed 0.2 ... it´s fine for now but i think it´s quite slow ... anyone can help me!!?? :D
Guest carkev Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) hi enigmat, like yourself I am very new to Android and have the SanFran. I have been dabbling a lot over the last week or so with roms and can certainly recommend Modacos own 2.2 relaese 12 rom from here: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...online-kitchen/ it is very clean and stable, and in my setup leaves plenty of phone storage compared to some others I tried, although I prefer the highly customisable free 'ADW Launcher' than those included. the compiled rom is free, but to get your own 'custom' rom from the 2nd post in above link you need to upgrade to Premium member (only £9.99) I have found though, that once your phone is 'rooted' that it is quick and easy to try all sorts of roms, there is a good guide here: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/ get stuck in and enjoy yourself ! I checked with my operator and my Sim does support it, so I was surprised that it is not working. however, I just found Contact2sim on the market and that worked flawlessly.

Guest karluxandre Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Hi, Which .apk file belongs to Java ME Apps so I can delete it as said above for wavesecure ? Thank you all, especially Paul for his great work !
Guest uberduck Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 bug report not sure if it's been reported here or not, but on the lock pattern screen the phone says "Phone is SIM Network Subset locked" but it's not (unlocked ages ago in 2.1 stock rom) i have tried applying this fix http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-subnet-locked/ but then the phone is stuck to 100% cpu loading
Guest GTAKing99 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Is there a SIM Unlock in the ROM?
Guest cbarb Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 The callerID fix only attempts to fix your database to show the caller ID along with the replacement ContactsProvider. I have another fix which I produced for my ROM which will replace the file and wipe the contacts database. This will mean you will lost your contacts and will have to sync them to your phone again. On the first boot after using this update the contacts database will be created with the correct IDs. ContactDBfix2.zip Once you've used any of the fixes you won't need to use them again unless you use an older version of the rom with the bug present. I applied this fix a while back and it works a treat. I have just noticed now that the birthday field that was originally in the edit area within contacts has disappeared. Most of the dates remain in the calendar but theres no longer any way of putting them on via the phone. I added this and the text message fix into this update before Paul modified it. Could this be added into the next release, or a quick fix be applied.

Guest Luke2642 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 R12 includes the HTC Checkin Service that runs in the background all the time. /system/app/CheckinProvider.apk It is safe to delete entirely, it's not included in other roms. I used titanium backup to do so. My battery life seems to have improved slightly, but it's only been a day and isn't exactly an objective. I'm normally lower than 93% by lunch. Guest samjam Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 To tell the truth I don't really mind how old other people think I'm, as long as I can help to make MCR Froyo better. :D As long as you don't care how other people think, your ability to work with other people will be limited and restricted as you stimulate them to think and respond in ways that you do not anticipate because you do not care. When you post in big red letters you show your ignorance and damage your chances of having meaningful conversation with many people. Many of those who give you the benefit of the doubt may cease to do so when you confirm that your attitude is deliberate and not arising out of innocence. Posting in big red letters is similar to walking into a room and shouting out what you have to say, as if conversations already going on are less important. It is not the same, but it is similar. There are times when it is appropriate to do this, but if you do this when it is not appropriate you expose a view of yourself which will not help you to make MCR Froyo better.

I uninstalled the service as you said with titanium backup and my phone is far more responsive, Angry Birds is fully smooth for the first time and battery life is much better. Just wanted to say a big thank you to Paul for the ROM and to Luke for sharing this!

Guest savior7 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Anyone noticed that the sound recorder doesn't work? I found it in the list of Apps but it doesn't launch and cannot be seen in the menu.
