Any screen freezes from owners of the UK San Fransisco version yet? Those who had problems with the previous rom, has this new version improved things? (Refering to the Lockscreen-freeze-bug).

I haven't had a single one, but this is the first froyo I have tried, so can't say whether it is better or not.

Otherwise I'm loving it, great work. the only slight blemish for me is that the calendar app won't sync (although it claims it is). Is it worth me trying with a different version (from an old ROM), or is that bound to fail?

After installing last night I had this problem once. So i guess it is still there.

Menu - root options

then check "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System"

when you have done what you need to do un check them both again before exiting the app or the next time you run it it will get into a tiz about being unable to find the SD Card

Brilliant, thanks for that. I knew there must be a way of gaining the necessary permissions. Now I can finally watch TVCatchup with sound! ;)

We've had this ROM on my wife's Blade since last night - no freezes. On Fib's FroYo ROM it used to freeze about once every 24 hrs. Perhaps too early to tell.

Several new issues though - calendar doesn't sync. Toggle 2G would not install. Frequent FC with Titanium Backup (that used to happen with any other FroYo ROM)

I also had one freeze using this ROM ;)

Reverted back to MCR r4 since I don't trust enough on the back cover of SF to endure multiple open/close

That's too bad ;) Not sure what is happening since it only seems to affect a few of all the UK-bought phones. Any devs that might know the reason for these problems?

I have no problem with this. ;) Perhaps a issue on the server end? Test on another site.

No. This behaviour is with every site. If I type something like https://sdfsdf there comes no error message (!) -- only a blank page. With http://sdfsd (without the s in https) comes the expected error message.

May be this is the reason that I can not register my Google-Account (with edge)

I flashed back to 2.1-ROM -- everything including Google is fine. With 2.1 I can login to my google-Account and I can use https in the browser.

Then I flashed the kitchen Alpha2, the same again. No Google-Login, no https.

Other ideas?

Out of interest, did this Chinese version have the "Phone Home App", just wondering if this is actually final or still pre-release.

First of all, thanks to Paul for all his hard work on this, but since this is an alpha version I presume that feedback is sought, so here's what i found so far.

After doing a total wipe of everything (via clockwork) here are the results from Wales:

1. Needed to updgrade clockword to 2.5.1.3, rom refused to load using the old 2.5.0.9 (boot loop).

2. using Weather Widget and pressing 'Set city' I get FC..'process com.zte.WeatherWidget'.

3. Calendar Widget shows '12.2010' right at the top in light grey and therefore cannot be made out (black wallpaper). Week days shown in Chinese.

4. course AGPS location not working for me.

5. Taskbar signal strength shows a 'G' or '3G' (depending on whether I've activated 3G or not) inside the signal strength icon. This is not the usual 3G icon you get, the 3G is in the top left-hand part of the icon displaying the signal strength.

6. Quadrant score: 950

7. Cannot find FMRadio (suspect it was taken out of the rom because it doesn't work), so i cannot test it.

8. Been loaded for 12hours with no crashes so far.

9. Lock Screen shows 'MCR' instead of 'Tesco'. Also the 'Emergency' message is weird, i might change this to say something like 'Lock'.

Overall it looks like Froyo is nearly ready for everyday use with everyone, not just the techies. However, my personal (and this could be just placebo) is that although Quadrant clearly states higher scores than my previous Eclair r4, it doesn't actually 'feel' like that using it and the rom feels generally ever so slightly sluggish.

The "Emergency message" is actually a shortcut to a dialler where you can dial 999, 112, 911 or whatever emergency number your country uses (UK uses all 3 believe it or not although they only advertise the 999 one)

It allows you to dial it without having to unlock the screen

Edit: the MCR is showing because it should display the network while locked, but this feature does not work with some networks

Re touchscreen issue, I've noticed that the phone is still responding to adb, so an

adb reboot

will reboot the phone without issue.

However, using this method the touchscreen issue does seem to strike more often. Unfortunately the only sure-fire way to stop the issue striking too often is to remove the battery.

Mention this as it may help in getting to the bottom of the problem...

Working on the GMail calendar issue atm as top priority...

As I've never had a screen freeze whilst using Froyo, is there an application / widget that all those who are getting freezes are using that could cause this? (I'm using Flibblesan's r3a with ZTE Dialer)

Huge thanks for all your work Paul!

This stuff is awesome!

Another possible tweak:

remove/delete camera click/record sounds from /system/media/ui/
