I just had a wieird thing

I got a txt message while the phone was sleeping (screen off) it beeped but the screen had a red square dancing about on it

pressing the on/off button didn't bring the unlock screen up, I had to press the menu button to get it so I could unlock it

Feature or bug?

Sounds like you're running Noled? It's a feature of that.

PLEASE tell me EXACTLY how you did this as I tried many times and it crashes the phone

Or Ill swap you the calender files you want for a copy of your Modified framework

Ok, I had to do this again today with the alpha 3 framework-res.apk and it flashed ok:

1) I have the exact color scheme for the battery mod saved in a text file, so I start by posting it in the browser address filed, but I think one can start from the beginning and chose whatever battery mod they want:

http://circle.glx.nl/?c=Uj0xJkI9NyYxQz1GNT...z0xJk09MiZTPTM=

press enter. The color scheme will load, then press the beige "back" button bellow the color scheme. Here you'll be able to choose a different battery mod - I just press 'generate icons' (beige button bellow the frame) which leads to the Icons menu

2) Second option - themed icons sets, then press 'next'

3) Check 'white status bar icons' and select '3 bluefrost - all set' click 'next' above

4) Onto the 'status bar notification' menu. Here leave selection at 'do not change notification status bar' click next

5) Onto the 'choose bootanimation' menu. Here select from the drop-down menu 'LeeDroid v2.2' - or any other option that you know is not an HTC Sense ROM. Then choose the 'Do not include boot animation' from the menu below. Click 'next'

6) Onto the experimental 'windows animation' menu - here select 'do not include windows animation' and click next

7)Onto the 'file upload' menu. Here leave the drop down selection at 'upload framework-res.apk' and browse to your copy of the file which you need to have had pulled out of the phone. Click 'next' the upload will begin and when complete, the UOT kitchen will take a minute or two to cook your UOT update.

8) If the kitchen succeeds ,donwload the cooked file and flash it as an update.zip in recovery mode. The file should look something like UOT-ZC-12-03-20-20-54...zip

Here's a copy of mine.

UOT_ZC_12_03_20_54_2.zip

Yeah, I bet half the forum is running around with it installed with no idea what it is considering the tft vs oled thing. ;)

Just to explain it - it actually has nothing to do with OLED. It's 'No LED' not 'n OLED'. It's designed for phones with no led for missed call notifications and what it does is take your phone out of sleep whenever you have a missed call and display a graphic so you know about it. People are using it to test for oled screens simply because it draws a nice black screen for you where it's easy to see a backlight if present. Some people with the San Fran also use it because while our phone has the LED, it doesn't work when the phone sleeps. There are however much more power efficient ways to do that as we do have the LED - namely keeping the phone awake with the screen off rather than having to power it. It's be nice if someone wrote an app to do this but I'm doing it with Tasker atm and it's literally twice as power efficient as NoLed.

Back on topic, I'm still on the stock orange rom (de-orangified using Titanium) but I think I'm going to be installing the clockwork thing and this alpha 3 tomorrow. Looking good. :P

had a good play about with alpha2 today. mobile network mobile network type is hsdpa (dont know what that means) and Mobile Network State is always disconnected. cant seem to get it to connect. tried doing a factory reset still no dice. can someone tell me if this is an alpha build problem or do i have something wrong? also if your touch screen dies at the locked screen, just press emergency and then go back. the touch screen should work for you to unlock now.

Music still shows double in the kitchen Alpha 3 so I don't think Paul got to look at this.

If he said he'd been then he'd looked at that, that is for sure.

Nope

same as all the other times I tried, it crashes once I unlock the screen the first time, and every app crashes if I try and open them.

Tried it by following the instructions above (same as I had done many times before) and then by using your framework supplied, ALL did the same

Crashed.

It shows the battery% which is great, but the phone wont work.

No idea at all why.

This is now driving me crazy, I wiped the phone, reflashed and tried again, still the same thing

used CW and cleared Delvik Cache just in case it was that tried again and nope still all the apps crash once the screen is unlocked.

I cant see how others can possibly be using this with the Alpha rom, (or the previous versions of 2.2 on the blade) it just will not work

Umm, cheeky question. Would someone be kind enough to upload 40a2sd somewhere? I'm without broadband and relying on 2g tethering at the moment ;). Getting 3KB a sec and the download keeps failing.

Here, I have upload it:

Paul, is there any way that the lock screen can be reverted to the original one? I don't like the different swipe action ;) .

Can anyone please confirm if the random screen freeze issue is still present.. Frankly that's the only thing that's still keeping me on Eclair. Coz this SF is my primary phone and need it to be stable. The other stuff like the backlights not working is not a dealbreaker for me.

I'm suffering many touchscreen freezes on alpha3. I never experienced this before using this build and have been using various FroYo builds full-time for a while, including briefly trying alpha1.

This happens on the initial lockscreen most of the time, but seems to clear after a number of minutes when I return to the phone - removing/reinstalling the battery makes no difference.

It also happens sometimes after I have got past the lockscreen with no obvious pattern as to the cause.

I thought I was one of the lucky ones who never had any such touchscreen problems, but now I'm not sure whether this is build-related or device-related.

I'll probably have to return to FLB r2 for the time being and hope it clears on that build.

Thanks to Paul for all his work on this build; hopefully a fix can be identified if it isn't a problem with certain devices.

Update: this may be a red herring and due to a faulty USB mains charger, as it only occurs when charging

From what I've read (the whole thread), it seems that this could still be a problem and for this reason I'm wondering why a lot of people have been pushing for the, IMHO, rather petty issue of the screen locker to be changed when, despite Paul's impressive efforts, it seems that there could still be a serious underlying issue with the build. This build has the potential to be the finest yet and I'd be making the move to a custom ROM for the first time if reliability was a certainty.

The main issue with the new lockscreen is that its a .png image which meens you'll constantly have the blue lockscreen wallpaper unless you keep flashing a new wallpaper when you change your homescreen background, this requires a pc for the right cropping dimensions, curve overlay ect... just far too much effort to go through for a non user-freindly lockscreen

That does sound like a pain but having lock-ups still seems worse.
