Guest Frankish Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) The main issue with the new lockscreen is that its a .png image which meens you'll constantly have the blue lockscreen wallpaper unless you keep flashing a new wallpaper when you change your homescreen background, this requires a pc for the right cropping dimensions, curve overlay ect... just far too much effort to go through for a non user-freindly lockscreen Easy solution. Create a transparent lockscreen .png. I did this myself and it now uses whatever wallpaper i set ;) Bugs for me. Alpha2 but with alpha3 fixes applied manually. CPU usage constantly up at 97-100%. Checked with SetCPU and Task Manager. Still seeing double mp3 files even after removing libomxmp3dec.so. No duplicates in gallery like some reports though. Edited December 4, 2010 by Frankish

I'm pretty sure it's due to that if you look at my above problem. HW ac is on by default.
Guest renegade027 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Nope same as all the other times I tried, it crashes once I unlock the screen the first time, and every app crashes if I try and open them. Tried it by following the instructions above (same as I had done many times before) and then by using your framework supplied, ALL did the same Crashed. It shows the battery% which is great, but the phone wont work. No idea at all why. This is now driving me crazy, I wiped the phone, reflashed and tried again, still the same thing used CW and cleared Delvik Cache just in case it was that tried again and nope still all the apps crash once the screen is unlocked. I cant see how others can possibly be using this with the Alpha rom, (or the previous versions of 2.2 on the blade) it just will not work Hm! I've seen this my self but in different circumstances ;) I have an HTC Desire - a few weeks ago I decided to see what the MIUI craze is about and also if I could live without the Sense UI so I flashed a couple of ROMs then re-flashed the MCR r9 rather than do a NAND restore as I wanted to do-away with the ext 3 partition on the SD card and resize the System/Cache/Data...long story short - I tried to restore my battery mod and icons set, etc - Did not work - FCs from the get-go. Tried to upload my framework-res.apk to UOT anew and flash the new UOT file - same thing - basically I could see that the battery mod was applied but the phone would either not start at all (boot-loop) or start but never become fully operational with a bunch of FC messages. So I tried to investigate individual FC messages and I came across this procedure for when one changes ROM 'brands': http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614922 I followed the procedure and, in addition, re-formatted and re-flashed basically everything but the splash.img. Yes, including evacuating the SD card and reformatting it in a camera (i.e not under windows or the phone itself) It worked. Note, however, that the xda-developers checklist requires AmonRa recovery to be used and one option in particular - 'fix apk UIDs' which I don't think is available with clockworkmod recovery. Not sure if AmonRa even works with the ZTE Blade.... Hope this helps somewhat, as I know how frustrating it could be to spend 2-3 hrs and get nowhere with what looks like a simple task :P Edited December 4, 2010 by renegade027
Guest Lew247 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks for that, although I cant see how a framework from an identical phone with an identical rom cannot work, or from the original rom dump its just bugging - really annoying
Guest deepmenace Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Bug report: About 50% of the time the WiFi will not reconnect when turning on from sleep. I have the Blade WiFi Fix installed too. Anyone else experiencing this? i have this problem - from sleep i get the "wifi not connected" message in the notify bar. is this common? fixable?
Guest Frankish Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks for that, although I cant see how a framework from an identical phone with an identical rom cannot work, or from the original rom dump its just bugging - really annoying I actually had that problem once. To test, nandroid your current install. Now wipe everything and flash the clean rom. Do NOT install any apps or restore ANY DATA at all from Titanium/MyBackupPro. Now let it boot once. Then flash framework from recovery. I can almost guarantee that it will work, the problem is restoring data with Titanium/MyBackup. Restoring apps once it's working is fine including app data. Just not data as in bookmarks, sms etc. Please test.
Guest jdtanner Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Hi Paul, Couple of bug reports for you: 1. The ZTE weather widget force closes 2. Whilst the notification area says giffgaff (or whatever virtual provider) the lock screen says MCR (I know you added this...). The fact that the notification area ays giffgaff seems to suggest that the name is being detected, just not in all of the correct places. Hope those make sense? John
Guest rogerpe Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Just bought the premium subscription thanks to this rom. Keep up the good work.
Guest Archer23 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Not sure if anyone else has had this, but I can't get G\3G connection.. I can only get an internet connection through WiFi ;) I followed all instructions when moving from the 2.1 MoDaCo ROM.. any help would be muchly appreciated :P

Guest Archer23 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 check your internet APN's its probably set to the wrong one Nope.. all set to exactly as it should be.. even tried putting in the manual one's that I used in 2.1!

John John, Ill answer that one for Paul... he was able to get the provider id displayed e.g. "GIFGAFF" but on lock screen he couldn't. It is something he has already looked into and there wasn't a fix, (maybe hard coded). The solution was to display MCR if not found. He tried having "" (nothing) displayed but this crashed the rom. I'm sure with a bit of looking, you could actually manually update that text string to say your operator name....for me its not something I care about enough to change Hope that helps

Guest tx12345 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Hi there, have noticed some issues with alpha2 with the dictionary. - If I am entering text into a field where the dictionary is on, as soon as I start typing, it exits the input screen. Have noticed this when entering contacts, when searching in the Android Market also. Happens with the Touchpad IME. Edited December 5, 2010 by tx12345
Guest Rotmann Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 had a good play about with alpha2 today. mobile network mobile network type is hsdpa (dont know what that means) and Mobile Network State is always disconnected. cant seem to get it to connect. tried doing a factory reset still no dice. can someone tell me if this is an alpha build problem or do i have something wrong? also if your touch screen dies at the locked screen, just press emergency and then go back. the touch screen should work for you to unlock now. Hi, click here to see what HSDPA means. Shortly said it is the fastest connection you can get on a mobile handset (different stages depending on the implementation: 3,6 7,2 14,4 or 21 Mbps). Beneath are 3G or UMTS (384 Kbps), EDGE (~220 Kbps) and GPRS (~56 Kbps). Your phone won't connect to the mobile data network if your APN is not set. You can check this by going into SETTINGS-WIRELESS CONTROLS-MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS-ACCESS POINT NAMES. If there isn't anything there press MENU and make a new access point (google the settings like "T-Mobile android settings"). Thanks Paul for the hard work!
Guest Alcoholiday Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 What is the music playback like on this ROM? I'm using 2.1 r4 and get stuttering/cutouts quite frequently, even trying different music apps. This seems to be a common problem. Any improvement with 2.2? Also, the general music quality isn't great (quite a lot of distortion) but I guess that's an issue with the phome headphone socket itself - even Paul's magic can't fix that! Great work on this - looking forward to a 'final' release that us noobs can use.
Guest fishb00n Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 @alcoholiday: for me the the stuttering is gone with 2.2
Guest jdtanner Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Paul already said he thinks it's in a certain file. I think it was a .lib or a .so. Either way something he can't change. Yeah, sorry fellas. I saw that he had already located where it should be, but I didn't think he knew it was being correctly used in the notifiation area. ;) John
Guest toytown Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 I'm using 2.1 r4 and get stuttering/cutouts quite frequently, even trying different music apps I had stuttering with my stock rom/stock player and it would cut out for a few seconds multiple times in an hour. However after about a week it mysteriously just disappeared, i thought i had installed something that fixed it, but 2-3 weeks ago i had to do a factory reset of the phone and still the music plays absolutely perfect on it.
Guest fradleyp Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 had screen freeze once on R1 going to try R3
Guest DominicA Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Does anyone have a fix for the duplicate mp3 issue? I've tried removing all the mp3s, clearing the music app cache, deleting all the cache files from the sd card. As soon as I put the mp3 files back they have double entries?
Guest Frankish Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) The claimed fix was to remove libOmxMp3Dec.so from your libs folder but i did this myself and i still have double mp3's!!! EDIT: Scratch that, that's just to make certain mp3's work. Not sure about the duplicates? Edited December 4, 2010 by Frankish
Guest admanirv Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Is anyone noticing high battery usuage with R3??? Yes mine too and i think it's due to high cpu...mine seems to be stuck at 600mhz. If i half the speed with setcpu it sticks at that or whatever i set it too. Also task manager shows it as being stuck on full usage too.
