Neither, just happens. Easily reversed if desired.

;)

I think it's a security flaw to have it r/w. Do you know, where it's mounted?

I don't get the issues people are having with the battery, mines lasted nearly 3 days on standby now before I reflashed the latest verion with the fixes again today

No I didn't do "too much" browsing or playing games, but the sync was on all the time.

I need more testers - could you try the alpha3 prebake and tell me what issues you encounter?

P

Yes. I installed it already. waiting for a full battery charge to leave my place. I'll test it at work and reply tomorrow when i get back.

Since installing the Alpha 3 prebake, I can't seem to connect the phone to the PC.

Did the drivers change between 2.1 and 2.2?

I have done some searching and tried the suggested hack of the android_winusb.inf file - but still no joy.

With alpha3 from 03/12 i had a wierd issue:

When my phone was charging...it stopped at 54%...even after i wipped battery stats.

Reverted to my alpha1 recovery image and all is well.

Anyone can tell me if experienced this on alpha from 06/12?

Thanks for your hard work Paul...we all appreciate it ;)

is wireless working fine with this rom? Wireless often drops with de-orangated rom even when disabling the "disable on sleep" and even with blade fix app from market installed, hoping for a fully stable wireless connection.

The only issue I've had with the R3 Rom is the SMS service keeps crashing. Otherwise - smart!

Known issues (alpha3 - fixes to follow where possible)
  • Backlights on keypad not working (not supported in Chinese kernel)
  • FM Radio is cutting out after a few seconds (cause TBC)
  • Coarse location (location from WiFi / 3G) does not appear to be working (cause TBC).GPS is working great.

Changelog

great work again paul!!

1 moan:

any chance of fixing these

i know the backlights will take a while, but a fix for the others in the near future?

In init.rc in the ramdisk from the boot image. You'll need a number of dev tools to pick it apart and edit that.

Can I suggest those having problems with their GPS (as opposed to Coarse positioning) download Ulysse or something similar that can show them their current satelite lock status. This will tell you if there is really a problem or if it is just taking a long time to get a lock (due to interference, buildings etc). It CAN take 10 minutes to get a proper lock. Something like Ulysse will show you if it is seeing any satelites, how many and what kind of signal you are getting.

Hi Paul, New to Android but already having fun using you site etc.

The alpha 3 looks good and seems a lot quicker than stock ROM

Only problem I am having is getting logged into Google as it just comes up with password incorrect all the time even tho I have checked it via Internet on the phone. Other than that no problems.

You do say that button backlights do not work but I am sure mine are working (return button flashing red etc)

Keep up the good work.....

Only problem with transparent lockscreen is the text for time, date and operator. Like most people i use mostly dark backgrounds and this makes all 3 mentioned texts unreadable. Better to stick to current one for now and let people edit their own. Here is mine i did for the revo theme.
