Still waiting for some very intelligent person to tell me how to get rid of the Phone is SIM Network Subset locked message. I unlocked the phone weeks ago with a code from the link on this forum but since installing a4 this is being displayed. Please someone help!

The process com.android.phone is in a "has stopped unexpectedly" crash loop from boot.

I actually solved this issue with a new sim card. Apparently some pre-2008 Vodafone Ireland SIM cards exhibit problems with Android. A new (free) 128k sim fixed this issue.

Thanks again for the 2.2 ROM :)

This is a limitation of the NoLed app itself rather than the rom.

Thanks for the answer :)

99% of the time when this happens its because you have noled installed and don't know what it is or how it works.

When you get a call or text message see if you get a coloured square on your screen before you press any buttons,

if you do your using noled, press the menu button and see what happens.

I've only ever had it lock and had to take the battery out, until someone told me it was noled

When the phone locks next time press the MENU button not the power button and you should get the unlock screen

I dont have noled cause everyone says it has problems.. and tried every button but only the power button does something :)

Noled doesn't actually have any problems. It's just it changes how the phone behaves and people aren't aware of that and think they have a problem. :)

I've seen a few comments about this but no answer on how one should wake a noled phone

You press any of the bottom buttons. It's confusing because if there is no Noled notification you can only wake the phone from the power button, if there is a notification you can only wake it by using the bottom buttons (and not the power button). It's simple when you know how - but it's a bit unintuitive for those that just install it as part of the rom with no idea what it does or how it works.

Why not just turn it off

simply use the widget, hold your finger on the touchscreen, choose widgets, noled and when it comes on the screen press it once so the colour of the widget is black

black off

coloured square = on

or press the menu button and go to noled that way and turn it off, or even uninstall it?

At least that way people can be certain its not that that's causing their problems?

Any idea on how to uninstall it as it not an apk?

Thanks

I'm using the alpha 3 and I've had this happen a few times with no obvious pattern. The touchscreen stops working so that you can light the screen up pressing the power button but you can't turn the phone off, and the touchscreen doesn't respond at all.

I'm not running NoLED or any of the apps mentioned above. It's annoying having to take the battery out and reboot the phone - I'd love to find another work around/solution. You do look a bit of a mug having to do this - my friends say you want a simple phone like mine..... (and I'm inclined to agree!)

Paul, and anyone else,

I have a frozen screen right now. Is there any way I can extract debugging info from the device?

This is an OLED San Francisco running Alpha4, baked without NoLED and Email app. I have removed QuickOffice as previously suggested and also Wifi Fix.

If any one can can tell me how to pull of the log files then I will give it a go.

I have a Windows XP PC available which does not have any drivers associated with the phone installed.

For me it's the same... I had one screen freeze using the alpha 3 prebake. The screen froze after approximately one day after the flash. Now I used the rom for at least 6 or 7 days and I did not have any further freezes...

The one freeze I had was in the same way as yours... The power button was still responsive and I even could bring up the shut-down menu, but the touchscreen was completely unresponsive (I had to pull the battery).

Been using Alpha 4 for a week or so now so just wanted to report two persistent bugs that no-one else has mentioned yet. Hopefully just me but would appreciate if anyone else can check these;

In "Task Manager" if I tap the "Resources" tab at the top the application gives a fatal error and closes.

In the normal email app, if I open an email, then press menu->forward the app gives a fatal error and closes.

Cheers.

As far as the task manager goes i think that is a known problem with that application, i for one got FC's with it on the resources tab on the stock orange rom. The only option would be installing an alternative task manager from the markey=t.

Can't help with the email issue though.

I read somewhere that it could possibly be battery not pumping enough juice. Do you want to try plugging SF to charger and see if it unfreezes?

I had my first screen lock this morning too and I've been 'googling' for more info on the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The phone was on charge last night and has been off most of today, so the battery is not low.

In fact my other freezes happened in the morning after the phone had been on charge as well.

Nonetheless, I have plugged the phone in to the USB on my laptop and it has not made a difference.

Hi all, first off I'd like to congratulate Paul on his work you do a fantastic job pal keep it up

As this is my first post I will apologise if any of my questions have been asked in other topics so try not to kill me :)

While I do love the froyo rom I do have a couple of niggles mainly the look of a few things, is it easy hard or at all possible to implement some things from the stock rom into this one? Like When the menu button is pressed on the home screen the little pop-up box is now white while personally I preferred it to be black, I think this may have been discussed before but the inbox screen in messages I liked the black background with the little green bar to show which of the messages were new, this new screen seems more bland and the slight grey tint makes it confusing as to what's new and old, thread deleting too I've noticed you can't batch what threads to delete it ist deletes them all at once, last thing I think would be the contacts screen the pictures of tiny phones and sim cards looks a little ugly I'd rather have the pic of the android in the box.

I think that's all and again my apologies if any if what I said has been discussed before.

Thank you

I dont know if this has been covered somewhere in this topic. Im running alpha3. A week's passed with all going good. A few days back I used mobile data to go online. As I dont have unlimited data, I turned off Background Data. Everything was working fine.

After this, when I was home and tried to connect to my local WiFi connection, it failed. There was the WiFi icon in the notification bar showing 2 bars, but nothing would connect.. Market, Browser, Facebook... So I tried restarting the phone and now it doesn't even connect to WiFi. It always says it's out of range, even when I'm standing right next to the router. BTW it was working fine till that time, so there's no problem with the password or router. My laptop catches the signal just fine.

I have frankish's Gingerbread theme on here if that matters. So is there a fix for this? Or do I just need to reflash? (something I wanted to avoid till alpha5). Thanks in advance.

Edit: nvm. I figured it out.

Curiously, despite the screen not responding to touch I have been able to get past the lock screen.

I can now press the Menu button and get Add, Wallpaper etc and press the 'back' button to make it go away again, and bring up the Recently used menu.

But the touch screen still doesn't work!

I bought a Nokia charger that has a micro USB connector and when I tried it the screen became unresponsive. When unplugged it came back to life. So I'm wondering if there can be any connection with power usage which causes the screen problem.

Now that's interesting. I've just had my 1st lockup and it was after I'd charged it using the ZTE charger that came with the phone which I've not done before as I use the USB port on my PC (I work from home so this is easy).

What is possibly a clue is that the lock up occurred at the same percentage of charge as when I started charging, i.e. I put it on charge at 30% and it locked up when the phone dropped back down to 30%. I read somewhere (here I think) that the ZTE charge pumps out more than the 5v the USB port does so maybe this is significant.

Im still having general GPS problems from this ROM.

I do get a GPS signal but its always a struggle

It doesnt keep ia signal always having to resync whenever you need a gps

Most telling ive noticed that google lattiude does not continually update.

Your data is only updated if you manually ask to identify your location.. ive said it before and ill say it again

The gps on this rom is flakey at best.

This seems to tally with my thought as I've just posted. I think the charger is the issue. Can you charge it overnight via a PC and see if it still locks up?

I took it off charge this morning. Brought it to work. Turned it off for a few hours. Turned it on and fiddled occasionally then it locked up.

So I don't think I can support your hypothesis.

In my early post, I said that on my phone it locked at the same charge as when I put it on charge. When it locked with you, would it have been at the same or near the same charge point for you?

I can't say for sure.

I still haven't had a single freeze on the lockscreen using the stock lockscreen on alpha 3. I've tweaked a few things but not anything major. Other than deleting ckpd-daemon and replacing gallery3d.apk with an older one from my Desire...i get no high cpu usage and haven't had a single freeze.

I want to get one, i'm on the edge of my seat waiting for it!

EDIT:

The ckpd-daemon was the thing i was having stupidly high cpu usage with so i'm wondering...anyone that HAS had a lockup on lockscreen. Have you removed ckpd-daemon from /system/bin/ ? Like i said my only major things were removing this file and flashing stock lockscreen and using an old gallery3d.apk (the provided one refreshed my thumbnails every time i opened it!)
