Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 SIM PIN issue fixed, alpha5 coming today! :( P Based on Softbank or still using same base?
Guest Paul Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Same base, I had a look at the Softbank release and saw no real benefit to using it. P
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Only difference i've seen is i still have ckpd-daemon installed and have not experienced high cpu usage yet at all. Still no screen freeze on it too but i'm sure it's coming :(
Guest Totyasrác Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Has anybody tried the GPS navigation with copilot , navigon, McDrive or other nav software? Actually taken it out on a long drive? Using Sygic MobileMaps - no problems at all.
Guest Totyasrác Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 P Hey Paul - I'll be away from computers, forums, discussions for a couple of days, so here's the time to say: Thanks for all the work you've done for the MoDaCo community (especially for the Pulse/SanFran owners :() - have an excellent new year, mate!
Guest Paul Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Changelog alpha5SIM PIN fix for the stock Froyo lockscreenUpdated and optimised all components (Market, Maps, Facebook etc. etc.)

Guest PeTiNgA Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Kitchen is now online, prebakes to follow! P Thanks for your hard work Paul! Already downloading it from kitchen =) Edit: I will find out soon enough, but I assume that even with the Facebook optimizations it won't sync with contacts out- of the box right? Guest PeaNut_HU Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Kitchen is now online, prebakes to follow! P Wohoooo! Thanks for the update ;) :(
Guest ropin Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 will the prebake update have the stock 2.2 launcher?
Guest Paul Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Thanks for your hard work Paul! Already downloading it from kitchen =) Edit: I will find out soon enough, but I assume that even with the Facebook optimizations it won't sync with contacts out- of the box right? Well, it's weird, because I thought that was a standard feature of the FB app (disclaimer: I don't really use it much). I just checked out the SF tho and that option seems to be missing :S P
Guest EarL007 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Has anybody tried the GPS navigation with copilot , navigon, McDrive or other nav software? Actually taken it out on a long drive? I tried Motonav for a short time, it works nice.
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Nice to see prebakes following quickly too :(
Guest alweekes Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Quick question, if updating from alpha4 to alpha 5 do you still need to wipe data / caches? I'm a noob to the wonderful world of custom Android roms and am unclear the best way to backup and restore data - the nandroid method seems to backup everything and I believe overwrites the new rom if restored (?) and with Titanium backup I seemed to have problems when I restored system settings after going from the 2.1 rom to 2.2a4. What's the best method to allow quick restore of apps and data after flashing? Thanks, Andy.
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 alpha 4 to alpha 5 should be ok with no wipe i imagine.

I just checked out the SF tho and that option seems to be missing :S P Ok, it's not a big deal, at least for me. TBH, I think even with the stock ROM Facebook contact sync isn't working... I would like to have that just to sync contact photos, but I'll continue to use syncmypix then :( Thanks anyway ;)
Guest ropin Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 can you go form japanese jellyfish to alpha 5 without flashing
Guest IronDoc Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Well, it's weird, because I thought that was a standard feature of the FB app (disclaimer: I don't really use it much). I just checked out the SF tho and that option seems to be missing :S P From what I've read, people seem to think Facebook need to add the San Fran to a list of devices allowed to sync with fb. I don't really see why they would need to block non-standard devices from syncing though. What do you mean when you say you've 'optimised components'. Should that just make the ROM faster or what?

Yeah, and save space. P
Guest Paul Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 alpha4 -> alpha5 is non-wipe... P
Guest lixcab Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 alpha4 -> alpha5 is non-wipe... P Hi P, thanks for the update. I'm curious if you'll build a new ROM if we get a different Kernel from the China release on Wednesday? Thanks! L
Guest 90180360 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Quick fix for the horrible transparent zoom buttons and other transparent buttons that shouldn't be transparent. (for kitchen users) If you want to use the ZTE Chinese lock screen (with the magnifying lens) then download this: zte-lockscreen.zip If you want to use the original Android lock screen then download this: stock-lockscreen.zip use the "Custom Ingredients" option in the rom kitchen and upload the correct zip. When building the ROM the kitchen should use the framework files from the zip. Hopefully this will help people until Paul can produce a fix. If you use SIM Lock then please do not use the stock Android lock screen as the replacement android.policy.jar does not support SIM lock. Thanks man! Unfortunately I have already installed alpha4 without the stock lockscreen, so I just replaced the android.policy.jar with yours and it seems to work!! I guess this is not the proper way to do it? Should I install framework-res.apk as well?
