Regarding going from r4 to r5 when compiling the r5 in the kitchen do I have to choose all the system apps I chose for r4 or cna I just pick the core system for r5 and use that as an update?

In other words does r5 overwrite/replace anything that already exists on the phone system partition or does it work with what is already there?

Andy

Fixed my own problem through trial and error.

This isn't strictly speaking a non-wipe update as I understood the term.

You have to select all the system apps you want because it wipes the system portion, however moving between versions of this release is ok because the structure is the same so your apps will work ok.

To put it another way I left off "Wifi fix" from my r5 bake, applied the update, and there was no Wifi fix (I had it on the previous r4 rom).

So just make sure you select all the necessary system apps if you're baking.

I assume no-one replied because they didn't know themselves.

If you're new to android then I suggest you don't install any alpha roms...

Install Pauls modaco R4 Eclair 2.1, it's guarantied to work with no problems. Everything works, LED keys, FM radio, GPS, Bluetooth, all the sensors etc... generaly a 100% fool proof rom ;)

And I think german comes up automaticaly if you start it for the first time with an Austrian carrier...

Thank you very much for this quick reply!

But don't be angry. :(

Could you give me the link for the "R4 Eclair 2.1"?

Thanx a lot

r4 isn't TFT ready!

P

Oh, oh!

This sounds not good :(

Now I ask a little bit like a non-profi:

Do I have a chance when a friend of mine would make a backup of his ZTE that I could installed his backup on my phone?

See the stickies at the top of the topiclist. Come on, a bit of effort from yourself would be appreciated. Anyway, don't use this thread for it, as it has nothing to do with the a5 Froyo ROM.

Ok! ...that seems a little bit lazy of me but some times I can't see the trees even I stand in front of a forest

And you knew it where is to find.

Is this also useable for TFTs?

And ...I will read this first!!! ...I promise

Look, the stickies are the topics at the top, it isn't rocket science. So you can do it yourself.

Is this also useable for TFTs?

What do you think it means if there is [OLED] in the title? So no. Use http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...clair-oled-tft/ or any other ROM that says [OLED+TFT].

Dont be so hard, English isnt his first language and everyone was new to Android at one time and we all started knowing nothing

As long as the rom says TFT in the title is should work on tft devices

I go along with that too, I have noticed a fair bit of flaming on this site people should remember it is international and the Based(leaked) Roms YOU are using most of the time are from these same people so be gentle!!

... dito :(

I say thank you to every support. ...technical and human support.

It isn't the problem of the language. ...ok, I forgot a lot.

But in case of my phone I feel now like some who has to drive through London in the morning and has no map.

Do you know people like this? ...and this one drives in front of you?

I know such people can bring your blood to cook.

...but please be gentle. ...and excuse me!

Awesome forum, so much useful stuff, Paul got my tenner.

Maybe it's in my head but it seems to me that the UI is much smoother and more responsive in Alpha 5 than in Alpha 4. After reading the change list I wasn't expecting much.

You have two options:

1. Become a member - it's cheap, fast and painless.

2. Be patient - prebakes will arrive sometime soon.

Or install another 2.2 Froyo ROM like Sebastian's one.

Nothing to do with being "hard". In this case it is someone who gets directed to the right place and still keeps on asking questions in the wrong topic, without first reading those stickies.

Nothing personal to Never Again, but a forum becomes difficult to use if people don't use the resources before asking, and if they ask, to do it in the right place :(

To move on-topic:

Paul, I have installed it on my OLED SF (Superboot, Clockworkmod 2.5.0.9, 512 MB EXT2 partition, r5 baked with A2SD+ and ZTE lockscreen), coming from Finnish Fillyjonk, and did wipe cache and data.

Lockscreen works fine, GPS also, but apps like Titanium, Move2SD do not get root. They just show the "Asking for root rights" text, but nothing else happens. I installed busybox via the Market, but to no avail.

I am going to make a new bake, but wonder whether this is seen by others? :(

Edit: solved it in the installed bake by reboot, force stop of Titanium, and then restart. Don't know why this worked though?

Edit2: Widgets not happy either on Home Screen. Fancy Widget takes long to start after boot, while WiFi ON/OFF (from CurveFish) fails after reboot. Maybe to do with A2SD+ and Move2SD (although I haven't moved the widgets to SD)?

I just feel that Paul stop working on this phone... ;)

How about you take into consideration the fact it's Christmas period still, he has lots of other rom's to maintain for other devices, he has been ill and there has been no reason for him to update this rom.

Well, you should keep that to yourself.

As been looking here around Paul seem to have a lot of work to do with different roms and helping, plus he might have lot to do outside maintaining roms and the forum.

If he doesn't state anything then you can keep delusions for yourself(not in a bad meaning).

First of all, I think that I was not well interpreted.

I've just sayed that because when I've registered, not so much time ago, I thought that the the ROM's Updates would be more quickly.

Maybe because I've saw posts saying that we would have an alpha 5 before christmas. Then several guys asked about it and nobody answered. I brought the ad-free account to have access to this kitchen but didn't noticed that it was the only advantage for me (yeah I know - it was my fault!). I thought that the forum was full of kitchens and several things just allowed to the people who payed something...

Yesterday I've saw that Paul just released another ROM to the G2, so I thought that he had abandoned the Blade. But Today I've seen that he suporte several phones... And thats a lot of work just for one person.

Some time ago I've read that the Modaco forum was VERY strong on ZTE Blades and had a very big community related to them. I'm not saying that it isn't, but I thing that I had overrated it. Maybe I was expecting more.

But again, its a great forum! And are people here working hard. When I post that phrase, I wasn't expecting flames...

I'm just another android noob...

Sorry for the off topic.

Paul, congratulations for this new release. :(

^+1, This is great news!

Would be amazing if you can port the ui from the miui fm radio app!

Do you mean something like v0.3?

^Wow dude, that was freaking quick & great.

You should start a new thread for this.

Works perfectly. Only issue is no radio through the speaker.
