Guest harry_m Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Disabling it will kill Quadrant scores, but will fix the local HQ videos. It's a choice really, between beautiful videos and Quadrant scores. The "media.stagefright.enable-http=false" only fixes the HQ bar for streaming videos, as it makes android use the old Opencore framework for streaming videos and not local ones, essentially letting Quadrant use stagefright for benchmarking, hence the higher scores. I think the stagefright bugs were fixed in 2.2.1, so it's either the green bar or low scores for us for now. Unless Paul & others work some magic :P Cheers. Well ... I've enabled yesterday evening all these "tweaks" (jit enabled, stagefright-tweaks) and had a unresponsive, dead touchscreen in the morning. The same issue like described here: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/323...beta/page/120/# http://android.modaco.com/content-page/323...beta/page/200/# http://android.modaco.com/content-page/323...beta/page/260/# (and many, many issue-reports more) I'm not sure if all these tweaks are responsible for that dead-touchscreen issue ... but yeah ... I prefer a stable phone (than a good score in a benchmark-app). But anyway ... I will disable it on my phone. Edited December 2, 2010 by harry_m
Guest buneech Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 If you are refering to the facebook sync, dont think I even had it as an option on previous Froyo builds I could use this only on Cyanogen Mod on my Spica. Seems like it doesn't work on any other roms.
Guest Frankish Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 If you only want contact pictures then a great option is SyncMyPix, someone suggested that to me and it does the job. I don't care about statuses etc just pics :P
Guest Lew247 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I agree! I highly doubt getting 100 extra on your Quadrant score will have any effect on real world performance. The difference is actually 500
Guest buneech Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) The difference is actually 500 Does that lower score impact the performance of the phone? Does it really matter if you get 500 or 900? Edited December 2, 2010 by buneech
Guest Frankish Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Yes but are those extra 500 points not just because the benchmark app can use the stagefright stuff. Not sure if it makes a difference in real world usage.
Guest Totyasrác Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Happened on my Finnish Blade with every Froyo rom tested Could someone please open a topic on this issue with voting possibility - after all it might be a HW issue (so far most of the symptoms happened to only Blades from Finnish sources?). That's just a guess though but none of the SanFrans from the UK showed signs of the issue as far as I know :P
Guest rayraven Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Well ... Not sure what you did, but disabling only stagefright.enable-http, will let you watch HQ videos on youtube etc, without green bar and still get good scores on Quadrant. Does that lower score impact the performance of the phone? Does it really matter if you get 500 or 900? No, the only difference will be in decoding HQ videos. Apparently, stagefright is much better at decoding H.264 & other codecs than Opencore. But, on a day-to-day usage basis, there will no difference in performance.
Guest Totyasrác Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Paul, What fix is this? Is their an issue with the 2.2 Exchange email? Yepp - can't open any item (it syncs good, can see all folders but can't open any mail no matter if from Inbox or Sent). It's only with this build (that I've seen this to happen)...
Guest Totyasrác Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 currently in all froyo roms it returns the error 'Your current location is temporarily unavailable'. At least this is the case for all the blade users I know in the UK. +1 in Hungary (Orange SanFran)
Guest Andy Maclean Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 The difference is actually 500 Only if you totally disable stagefright, which is not necassary to fix youtube. I was refering to a few people saying they only got 900 odd points on this rom instead of the 1000 they have got on other froyo roms. Either way those 500 points are lost because stagefright is better at decoding video then opencore so this will not effect the day to day performance of your phone anyway.
Guest Paul Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Man, the FM radio has a TON of unused features (recording and stuff like that). Not found the problem yet tho. :P P
Guest Frankish Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Just release without Fm Radio :P I don't get anything on the thing anyway.
Guest lordofangels Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Man, the FM radio has a TON of unused features (recording and stuff like that). Not found the problem yet tho. :P P Did you come across any RDS stuff in there by any chance, would be great to have this if in there. Thanks for the great job so far Paul. LoA
Guest Nirva Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Man, the FM radio has a TON of unused features (recording and stuff like that). Not found the problem yet tho. :P P How do you discover this stuff ? Do you know where to find the source code or do you decompile the .apk ?
Guest cmberry20 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Does the 'blank' mp3 trick work with this ROM to get the radio working. I would use this it people are worried about not having a radio. Better than nothing!! Edited December 2, 2010 by cmberry20
Guest Paul Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I wonder if the basedband on the V880 has changes to facilitate the radio working properly... I see nothing obvious as to why the sound is dropping... P
Guest Frankish Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Well it's definitely not the .apk as that would mean a 2.1 apk would work but they all do the same thing. :P
Guest bagatov Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Could someone please open a topic on this issue with voting possibility - after all it might be a HW issue (so far most of the symptoms happened to only Blades from Finnish sources?). That's just a guess though but none of the SanFrans from the UK showed signs of the issue as far as I know :P Well I have an SF from the UK and also get the lockups/freeze problem like some other users - but only with Froyo. Haven't tried this new one, but it kept happening all the time with Fibblesans G2 version. Everything stable with 2.1 - so something's different.
Guest Frankish Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I'm UK and my San Fran did it at least 4 times in a week for me. On Fibblesans.
Guest Amarielle Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I also have the lockups. Its not all the time, but does happen. Using Fibblesan's
Guest ballist1x Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 thing is, who cares about a green bar? Adobe has launched a new beta version of its Flash Player. The new version is 10.2 beta and it is available on Windows, Linux, and Mac computers right now on Adobe Labs. The new beta includes Stage Video which is a new API that has best in class video playback performance across platforms. stage as in stagefright? if there flash hope yet?
Guest Andy Maclean Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I also have the lockups. Its not all the time, but does happen. Using Fibblesan's I get them too, normally about once a week, seems to only be after the phone has been asleep for a while. I've only had them on Froyo.
Guest cmberry20 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 thing is, who cares about a green bar? stage as in stagefright? if there flash hope yet? But its not just a green bar - the whole image has a slight 'ghost' effect which makes the videos colours off.
