About interface Sense...

Hi everybody,

I dont understand why Sense lag on my phone? I tested all roms with sense and always same thing except the memory ram free can be different....

Weather Animation very slow - Browse menu slow ( compared to a real HTC sense dedicaced ) but its ok.

When I watch HTC Smart of my GF based on Brew ( basic touchphone ) with 300 Mhz and maybe 256 Ram - Sense is normal speed.

However HTC Sense works fine on windows mobile - android - brew | so the problem of slowness dont come from various Operating System...

With Omnia 2 - i 8000 with 800 Mhz and 256 Ram - I dont understand if it come from the export HTC Sense or come from Graphic Driver OpenGL ES ?

Do you have an idea or the right answer to my questions ?

I post there cause I talk about Omnia 2 and HTC sense export work - people make really good job and I would like know from them why performance are not so better than small smartphone with less performance compared to O2.

I think you're at the wrong section... but you've said it by yourself the phone runs on 'Brew'. Windows is much more complex so you're using much more system resources. Does the Htc Smart have Weather Animations? When you turn these off, you're windows phone will be much faster. Also you can set the performance to max.

No he's posting in the right section, the other phone he is talking about is just for comparison; it's a slow CPU phone but still shows sense more smoothly than our faster omnia 2 phones.

I noticed the same thing, as I have been using a HTC Touch Pro with 528Mhz cpu, and it renders the weather animations much more fluidly than the Omnia 2.

I'm guessing sense is not running with hardware acceleration on the Omnia 2.

I've also noticed a lag on the Omnia II, with SPB MS 3.5.5.

I'm new to O2 but been a vivid user of HTC TP2 (Touch Pro 2) using Energy ROM. On TP2, after testing pretty much every Energy release in the past year using Sense 20xx, I finally gave up last week (constant phone crashing, couldn't answer calls, freezes, memory loss/leak, etc) and decided to give SPB MS a shot (I last used it last year), and with small Tweaks (to make it more sense like), it has been running pretty stably for over a week on a lite Energy Titanium ROM (6.5 21916)

To make a story short, after I got the new O2 a couple of days ago, my excitement came to a dreadful disappointment upon installing SPB MS 3.5.5 and noticing the rendering to be slow/choppy specially on the carousel. On TP2, it is fairly smooth.

From what I gather, this thing has a 800MHz cpu, so it must be the GPU and/or driver that is making it less smooth.

I would say due to the 3D accleration of our CPU is poor, does'nt mean that if the CPU runs on 800MHz, it would display more fluid then a 528MHz. There are other factors to include in like HTC sense was coded for Qualcomm CPU, thus porting it over to a non Qualcomm CPU, there are certain stuff would not be optimized, the 3D driver contributes to the smoothness of the sense and lastly, HTC HD2 has 512MB of ram whereas with out 256MB of ram, there will be a huge difference. On HTC Brew we cannot compare, it is like a downgrade of HTC sense, alot of items are cut down.

I tried many roms, and I got the best results using MS Team Rom for OMNIA II Sense 2.5 (wm 6.5 version); allthough sense doesn`t look as good as on other releases, it`s fast and takes up less ram.

I allso experience better speed when I disable the tabs i don`t need (music, pictures, stocks, etc).

Thanks for your feeback. have you tried n00body/rapids 2.5 sense rom? Can you please tell me how to disable tabs in sense?
