Changing background color for Messaging under MS 3.5.5

I am running Mobile Shell 3.5.5 on a VZ i920. I am using the black background and have noticed a problem with reading emails. When I click on the envelope from the SPB Home Menu it takes me to my default Inbox with all of the text in white on a black background which is fine. When I click on an individual message, if the sender used a dark color like blue or purple, it is impossible to read on the black background.

Is there a reg key hack or other fix to change the background color for just reading individual emails to white?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
