question about the upcoming veri8zon LTE ntework and phones

my question is this...

Will all of the amazing new phones be exclusively LTE? or will it be an option? I don't need the speed enough to spend an extra 20 a month for a limited plan when I am now enjoying an unlimited plan with fine speed for what I do?

Unlikely. They won't have a network large enough to keep it exclusive for some time, so to force people to buy an LTE plan for those phones would be nutty.

Didn't stop Sprint. We still don't know what the plans for phones will be - they've only announced the aircard plans. Since the aircard plans are cheaper than the current 3G aircard plans, I wouldn't think the phone plans will be more expensive than current.

The initial phones will be LTE/EVDO combo's, but that may not stop them charging for LTE, regardless of whether it's available in your area or not.

Read that yesterday sounds like LTE maybe a GB eater. A real profit center for VZW.

Like anything new though, In a year all hopefully will settle down so us poor folk can enjoy it.....

LTE (Long Term Evolution) interface was created to supercharge 3G data networks, but also is expected to be the successor and standard to both CDMA and GSM as they gravitate to 4G.

LTE 4G technology allows backwards compatibility for 3G phones.

The 4G data plans initially available for LTE modems likely will NOT apply to LTE chipped cell phones, primarily because of government regulation, but also cut-throat competition. One of the interesting aspects of LTE 4G phones is that they use 2 antennas for receiving and 1 antenna for transmitting.

Verizon LTE chipped fones are due out early next year and Windows Phone 7 was developed to reach maximum potential of this in 4G...
