Guest bpivk Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I do have a problem with adfree though..... plenty of chat on xda about that though, so need to see what's gone wrong there. Use this and it should work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...postcount=11515
Guest Zarch1972 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) You need S-OFF for AdFree to work properly, unless the ROM is edited to work with it otherwise How'd you change the name of Dolphin btw? Launcher Pro allows you to change the name of the shortcut when you add it. I went through the S-OFF process yesterday (and now get the joker boot screen! ;) ), so not sure why the hell adfree isn't working. Edited December 9, 2010 by Zarch1972
Guest Zarch1972 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Think i've sorted AdFree. (just about) I went through this process this morning: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...;postcount=1906 But initially made no difference, adfree still failed/hung. So i've just uninstalled adfree, rebooted, installed again, rebooted, run adfree (with symlink ticked), rebooted. Looks to have done the trick, but i do get an upside down Android guy where the ad used to be??? Still, better than ads.
Guest Lohot Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) Another ROM worth considering, IMHO, is DeFroST. I'm using 6.1 and my phone has a Quadrant score of around 1450. Also, my battery life lasts longer than when I was using sense. The ROM is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690477 Sense always looked better, but I now use JAMT. My phone looks exactly like this and, for me, is just as beautiful to look at and use as Sense ever was. Edited December 10, 2010 by Lohot
Guest bpivk Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 @Lohot: This looks really nice. I'll have to try that out once I get tired of Sense HD. Thanks for the link.
Guest DiscoHero Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Been playing with the Oxygen ROM this morning. Certainly is fast. Not sure of battery usage compared to Sense (r9 or DHD) as i've had in plugged into USB messing about with ADB ... Tried Oxygen ... but it doesn't have APP2SD+ so I was out of space with a memory warning before I was done restoring my apps from backup, and I had battery drain issues with it (did calibration and all of the other voodoo). I ended up going back to good-ol' DeFrost CM 6.1 + HAVS 825mV BFS kernel + smartass via SetCPU + black theme = happiness. 1416 Quadrant after half a day's use without reboot (did it when I was at 88% battery), if anyone cares. Battery life is also improved over R9, Oxygen etc. Sense is nice but some UI decisions/redundancies drive me mad ... ("+" on main screen, which is "Theme Changer" in SenseHD ... why? Waste of space and an eye sore. Dear HTC if you desire symmetry on main screen, make it a custom shortcut!). Dialer One solves the problem of mediocre stock dialer and I'm good to go without Sense.
Guest Zarch1972 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) Well its over a week since i raised this thread and i've now been on AdamG's Oxygen build for all of that time......... I can say with complete certainty that I won't be going back to a bloated Sense build. Oxygen is clean, fast and for me, battery life is improved over Paul's R9 build. (sorry Paul) :) There is nothing at all that i've found that I miss from a Sense build..... well not yet anyway. Its certainly worth a try...... take a Nandroid, full wipe and install the 51mb build (yes, just 51mb)....... if you don't like it, just go back! :) Edited December 16, 2010 by Zarch1972

Can you please give us an idea of how you got your phone to look like that? I have had a look at the JAMT site but am at a loss where to begin. What launcher/widgets/icons are you using please? Thanks......
Guest Lohot Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) Ok, I can try to walk you through it. I must admit, it seemed a bit confusing to me at first too, but quickly became clear. The first thing you want to do is make sure your phone is running a ROM that JAMT can work with. Your options are CyanogenMod, Oxygen and DeFrost. I went with DeFrost 6.1 because I wanted the A2SD+ support that it includes. Thus, these instructions are assuming that you are using that as well. All the files and instructions to get the JAMT theme working for DeFrost 6.1 are here. If you are on a different ROM, I would imagine that you would need to use the equivalent pages. Basically, I just downloaded and flashed the "Black Stock" theme package. Then, because I really like his "Graphite - Black" lockscreen, I flashed the needed phone.apk. To make the lockscreen itself work, or any of the other variants you might like on his page, you need to use "MetaMorph", which is available in the Market. Through MetaMorph, I installed the "Graphite - Black" lockscreen. My phone looks a little different from the screenshot I posted earlier; that one is using his "Hinted - Black Icons" lockscreen, which you don't need to flash a new phone.apk to use. Finally, you should download and install the colour configuration files, which are on the CyanogenMod page here. Just follow his instructions on where to unzip them, then, on your phone, go to Settings > CyanogenMod settings > User interface > Tweaks extras > Select a theme to choose one of the JAMT themes. I use JAMT_Black_Gradient. So that's the theme taken care of. Next is how to use the scrolling wallpaper style on your phone. Luckily, ClassicalGas has a very good tutorial on how to do it right here. You will need "LauncherPro" and "Wallpaper Set and Save", both available from the Market. Follow the instructions from step 1 to step 5 and you will have a phone that looks almost exactly like mine above. The dark wallpaper, along with other options, is available in his dropbox. The lockscreen background is one of his own, on this page. Just use MetaMorph for the one you like. The clock widget is his modified one, availble here. This should be flashed through recovery. And the final two widgets I use are "BattStatt" and "Beautiful Widgets", obtained from the Market. Just set up the "Beautiful Widgets" to use "Beautiful Weather 4x1" widget, along with the "FlatWhite" skin and you should be all done! Your phone should now be configured to look like ClassicalGas' "Black Glow". Hope that helps. It is a little bit of a hassle, but it's well worth it, believe me. Everyone who has seen my phone has been very impressed and I've found it to be a very quick and intuitive way to use it. I don't miss Sense at all, and I thought I would! Guest camdenhandbrake Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 @Lohot Brilliant! Thanks for that. Think I may give it a try over the weekend while R10 is still in development. And DiscoHero has already answered my question about custom kernels (although I may have a look at CPUTuner rather than SetCPU).
Guest ascot17 Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Ok, I can try to walk you through it. I must admit, it seemed a bit confusing to me at first too, but quickly became clear...... Excellent post - many thanks! I think I have downloaded everything I need. Will give it a go when I get the time. The only item I can't seem to find is the black/grey striped wallpaper for the scrolling theme. It is not in the dropbox. Do you still have a copy please?
Guest jimmymagix Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Oxygen is fantastic. With all my apps in, N1 table flashed and S-off I'm getting quads in the 18-1900's quite easily. It's a great ROM. I'll be using my subscription money to donate to AdamG instead. Unlucky Paul :)

How do I know if I have it or need it and where do I find it? EDIT: Found the tables here: http://alpharev.nl/. Not sure which one I flashed though. How do I check...?? I was not able to turn the volume down. Did you have the same problem?if I'm on minimum,it is still so loud like on loudspeaker.first it wasn't a big problem but after 5calls... what the Fu**? The other thing was the "lock phone after" setting.it is not there. I'm looking for a solution to set this to more than 15 minutes, but it is not even there. Otherwise it is a really a nice rom,but at the moment not working for me... If you know where to set that lockout time limit, please share with me!! :-)

Screen will turn off and a few seconds later phone locks. Volume is subjective i guess..on the lowest settings it's fine by me.

Do you still have a copy please? The wallpaper is in ClassicalGas' dropbox, I just double-checked. Just go to Scrolling Wallpaper 2.0 -> WVGA(480x800) and it's on the second page. It's the dark pattern with the red glowing stripe at the bottom, called SW2_wp4.6.1_WVGA.png.

Hadn't noticed that 2.0 had 4 folders not 4 images. Got it now - many thanks!
