Do you think anyone would buy an OLED with broken SIM reader pins? I just bought a replacement SF because I bought a car at the start of the month and want to use Google Navigation (which needs data, and no SIM card kind of restricts that for me...).

perhaps for the screen.

Personally, I bought one on Ebay from a French ebay member (I'm French so it's pure logic :)). The one I bought was AMOLED, brand new (in appearence, because it was already root XD) and only cost me 106€ + 5€ shipping cost ! That's what I call a bargain !!! ^^

LOL - I've seen it all now. :D

Today there is someone selling the box - just the box, no phone or charger! What's that all about? ;)

This is simple. People are always selling 'boxes only' for phones on ebay. Here's what happens, you buy the box only, you buy a faulty phone, you fix it for next to nothing, you put a new case on it and then you put it in the box you bought and sell 'as new'; and ofcourse idiots out there buy it.

I would be very careful purchasing anything from fleabay. I accept you can get some good prices, and sometimes 'hard to find' items, but i would exhaust all other avenues before turning to that site for purchases.

Fleabay was a good idea back in the 90s, however, on the whole (as evident from the SF prices on their) it is now full of many (not all) 'quick buck turnarounds'.

Now, here's an idea for all rom devs on here.

Insert a warning message, or some kind of logo signature, as bootlogo.bmp and pack into boot.img. For the people who are looking to make a quick buck by selling someone else's hard work producing something like a workable Froyo, at least this gives them the inconvenience of having to unpack it, and repack it. I think this sort of behaviour is absolutely disgraceful. It is true devs make these roms available for free to anyone, however, I have never seen anywhere where permission was granted to make a profit from it. Indeed if memory serves me right freeware licences (not sure rom development comes under the same umbrellla) specifically prohibits this.

There are some people in this world who would sell their mother's grave if they thought it would turn them a profit ! :)

Apologies if this sounds harsh to some people, but i have been bitten several times by these fleabay 'DEL-boys'.

Yeah, no problem. Probably get £150 for it!

Oh, and don't forget, sell the box separately... :)

Seriously though, there is always a market for spare parts.

I bought my old G1 off of eBay. It was a great deal (less than 120$ with shipping) and the phone arrived in time (less than two weeks) in a great shape (it was used for approx a year, a bit less), everything working. Only problem was, that the battery died somehow (I guess stupid Hungarian Custodies did this, they always make something s*** to things, just to be imperfect), but I already had replacements ;) And it was great, but I had to sell it after a few months (4, if I count it right). But I had bad experiences with eBay too (eBay rule #1: only buy from a top rated seller, and always check back the ratings.).

I bought my SanFran from eBay for £154 (including £15 shipping). Well, yeah, it is £45 more than buying it from an Orange store, but at the time I had heard nothing about it coming to Sweden.

And now that it is here it costs 1568 SEK (~£147) on Comviq's online store, so I consider those £7 worth it for an OLED screen and getting it a month earlier than it was officially released here.
